DIARY
I know that a lot of people talked about and some had give the idea of using notes as something like that. But could be a really great feature a Diary inside EPim, so we could take notes based on date, not in names. At same time to support beter images and other stuff, something like you could copy and paste from internet, attach files and so on.
A real PIM for everything you want.
A real PIM for everything you want.
Re: DIARY
An old topic, but is there an intention of introducing a diary in Epim?
I Find it quite useful as I am using at this moment another sofware for it, but it would be nice if it could be a part of Epim.
Thanks.

Re: DIARY
Hi there;
So, I use a electronic diary, and I would find it very great to have this opinion in EPIM to have this too.
Please enable it.
My now-used program can be found at http://www.toolittle.de/
Thanks

Re: DIARY
I agree for the diary !
And a financial module (budget-planner)
And the possibility to have 2 (or 3) shedules, to-do's and notes-modules in 1 database
And of course the possibility to sort attachments in alphabetical order (Notes)
This is an understandable weakness of the Notes-module
Being organized is essential ...
And ... faster booting time for EPIM Pro on Windows start-up

Re: DIARY
Thanks for the suggestions, will consider adding the Diary module.
About ability to sort attachments - there will be some improvements with regard to that in EPIM 4.1. Keep an eye open for it

Re: DIARY
I also agree with Diary module
And here's my suggestion of its appearance in Calendar view. Of course it may appear as a standalone module too.
Please see the Diary section at the bottom of the following picture (the pisture is quite large so please use the scroll bars or mouse wheel to see the bottom)

Re: DIARY
I Agree with diary. Would be very helpful to keep track on a lot of things. Must me posible to search diary.
Same with financial planner. I do almost everything in EPIM, but missing a place there to keep track on projectexpenses.

Re: DIARY
Actually, I'd like to add my voice to this.
Diary app, yes please
I've been looking for a diary app for a long time. I've spent weeks researching diary apps, only to find that none really matched what I was looking for. They were all overkill, hugely bloated with unneccessary features.
A diary app in EPIM would be excellent and a real plus, for many people.
Also, a diary app that has a kind of 'Auto time stamp" feature. Everytime you start typing, say in a seperated paragraph, a time stamp is created.
The time stamp would have to be smart enough to ignore <RETURN> and is terminated (stops adding time stamps) by an assigned hotkey or a double minus. E.g. -- Or else you'd have time stamps on every line.
Kind of like a toggle on/off time stamp.
I know a time stamp feature exists in notes. This would be an etension on that feature.
Actually if this 'Auto Time Stamp' never progresses, it would great to have an assigned hotkey for the existing time stamp in NOTES

Re: DIARY
About the financial planner, I have suggested here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8126 but I understand that it could be difficult to program and it could slow down the EPIM. And it's a little bit off-topic in this thread.
But I hope that DIARY isn't too difficult to include into EPIM and it seems there will be enough demand for that feature. It fits logically into any PIM software.

Re: DIARY
Hello everyone,
I am trying now to understand what needs to be included in the Diary mode, could you help me?
Right now, you can create Notes with automatically inserted date and time in Title.
What is exactly missing in this solution? Is it not convenient (why?) or lacking some features?

Re: DIARY
At the moment I use a separate program for my diary/journal information. I still have doubts if adding this to EPIM is a real benefit. Most of all we must take care that EPIM does not become too big, bloated and because of that slowing down in performance. Also there are enough other things to be improved.
Most of all the e-mail module. Improvements are options like
- spam filtering, with white and black listing and move those messages to a spam or trash folder
- block the preview pane and by that NOT loading e-mails unless opened or needed for the preview pane.
- block loading remote content
- preview only text and block HTML preview
- threading e-mail messages
- setting preferences for accepting cookies
- on-line and off-line option
I have setup the accounts in the e-mail module, but do not use EPIM mail because it does not come close to my requirements and that's why I use a desktop and portable version of Thunderbird.
Also other improvements like an option to block changes in the preview screens (ToDo, Contacts, Notes) would be nice. Than everyone can choose if they want to use the edit option in the preview panes, or want to block unwanted changes by accidental typing in the preview screens.
Also a big improvement would be when the program would open all windows independent from EPIM, so we can have multiple appointments, ToDo's or notes open at the same time. What again would make things, like comparing information or copying information from one to another item easier.
Back on the diary topic, we already can use the notes as a diary/journal. It is possible to create a tree for notes and another for a diary/journal. Create groups within these trees for separate items you want to save within these groups. Add a date stamp and title to the note for search and add all text that is needed in the note. With the advanced search feature the possibilities of finding information in the diary/journal are not to difficult.
BUT
if we can get a separate module for a diary/journal and it does not slow down EPIM, can we than get
- add a date stamp to the entry. This is extra to creation and modification; entry belonging to date ....
- an option to group the information by date; year, month, 30 days, week, today
- add own fields to save required information like; temperature, mood, weather, temperature, wind, weight etc. etc.
- separate mood and weather icons that can be displayed in the columns would be nice.
- grouping multiple diary's as folders; like work, private, hobby etc.
- of course import and export options for the diary/journal
- option to change the displayed columns
