I can set start/end date and time for a todo.
It could be useful to have a field for anticipated duration (eg. 30 min, 1 h, 6 h etc) not linked to a date/time.
When I place the to do on the calendar, the set duration will be automatically linked to a date/time
Thank you
Mario

Re: To do duration
If you want for a Calendar event to be independant of the original To Do, then you right-click on a To Do and use "Save as Appointment"

Re: To do duration
Hi Max!
I meant something different. When I enter a todo ("write presentation for the meeting" "file project x", there is no way (at my knowledge) to set a duration for the task, unless I decide that I will "write the presentation" on August 29th from 15 p.m. to 17 p.m. etc. In other words there is no something like "estimated time". The need? Imagine you have a free time slot, if you can sort your todos by duration, you can more easily pick those that can fit the slot (i.e. I have 1 hour free...let's see all the quick tasks that I can process in that time...)
I attach a sceenshot from a todo management program that has implemented such a function (estimated duration) as an example (I can send you a pm with the details if you want).
Have a nice day!

Thank you! Now I understand. So far this is the first request of this kind I think, so we will see if more will come.

Re: To do duration
An estimated duration time would sure be a nice addition.
I second this suggestion.

Re: To do duration
With the upcoming 4.5 release, of which 4.5 release candidate 2 is released for members of this board, the first step for the ToDo duration is implemented !?
In the PRO version you can add custom fields to your ToDo's. At the moment this is only a alphanumeric (text) field, but you can use this to create;
- estimated duration (est.time)
- planned time
- etc.
Works okay, only since it is alphanumeric sorting on it might not work as you want.
I hope that in a possible next release it will be possible to add (text, numeric, date, memo) fields to the ToDo's.

Re: To do duration
As described in the PRO version you can set-up custom fields. Since some time this is not limited to text only, now there are 5 options;
text field
date field
Yes/No toggle field (you can select other options like 0/1 or on/off or true/false OR you can enter two own values that toggle when clicked)
check-box
drop-down list (where you can enter your own choices)
Standard there is no to do duration field, but as described before, you can set-up a text field and enter the value you like. That is what I do. Another option might be (if you like fixed choices) to use the drop-down list and enter your own choices. See an example of the custom fields and a drop-down list below.
