If I may enlighten this topic. Dedicated CRMs such as SugarCRM, Salesforce, Goldmine some versions of Outlook as well as other software are capable to dialing the contact's phone number or sending a fax. For many reasons, there is a need to step away from cloud services, or from Outlook and the complexities and costs of Salesforce and SugarCRM. If EssentialPim were to have a dialing feature, which is not hard to implement since it links in to the PCs phone dialer, chances are that you would see a large migration from these other softwares. There is a void between high end CRM, and the low end PIM tools. If people had not requested this feature is because no one know that by requesting a feature it would materialize.
I assumed, that since EssentialPIM is an alternative to Outlook, it would by default have a dialing button. The reason for having a PIM or contact manager in the first place is because one needs to managage contacts which have outrgrown other organic means like pen and paper, phonebooks and the sort. If you are using a contact manager, or PIM, then a dialer is essential.
I have downloaded Essential PIM in hopes of having a dialer and it does not. I don't want to use Outlook, or any other cloud based services. The need for a desktop manager with mobile device syn is important. Having a dialer no matter if it is a mobile phone, or desktop VOIP setup is important. There are times when you need to use a headset on a VOIP instead of a mobile phones. The need is there, and you should implement this feature. I am ready to buy if you have this feature.
