Epim Pro Business 7.21
Windows 7 64bit Prof
As you can see, entries set to readonly can nevertheless (since 7.21) be edited with that (infamous) slow double-click in the Listview. This applies both to Contacts and Passwords. And yes, changes here are saved.
[FIXED][7.21] Readonly Contacts and Password Entries Editable(!) in List View

Re: [bug][7.21] Readonly Contacts and Password Entries Editable(!) in List View
This is what I can figure out.
Admin can always edit read-only items via double click.
Standard Users can edit read-only items via double click their own items.
Standard Users can NOT edit read-only items via double click items marked as read-only by admin or other standard users.
So if* it's a bug there's a little more info.
On the other hand it very well may be an intended feature as in a business setting it would make sense that read-only would make things read-only for other people and not yourself.
Really I think the real shame here is that Firebird has some amazing user permission management abilities and yet due to the very limited interface people get limited to a tiny subset of pre-defined settings.

Thank you, we will investigate. So far I do not see a reason why not lock editing when in Read-only mode also for yourself.

This took a little bit to test since the lowest I could set auto backups to is 1 hour.
If standard users are the only people using the database no backups are being made.

Re: [bug][7.21] Readonly Contacts and Password Entries Editable(!) in List View
But I cannot edit the fields in the dialog window before I have removed the readonly checkmark in the top right corner: If I marked something "readonly" with the checkbox (or the local dropdown menu) it - as expected - is not editable until I remove that checkmark - except in the list view: There it is still editableMetalDrop wrote:This is what I can figure out.

Any news on this?
You see, any additional mouseclick on a previously (no matter how long ago) selected readonly element results in an involountary edit. That's what's so annoying about it...

Re: [bug][7.21] Readonly Contacts and Password Entries Editable(!) in List View
By chance I just happend to notice that items (both Contacts and Passwords) marked as ReadOnly are not only editable in the List View itself, but in the Preview Pane, too.
