Just re-installed version 5.81 and experienced the Socket Error. After replacing the two DLL files, my pop-based e-mail downloads like a charm! Thanks for the fix.

For what it's worth, all my failed version 5.8 e-mail downloads occurred with POP-configured accounts. (I have no IMAP configurations set up for EPIM).

Hi Max, Thanks for that tip! I had my copy of version 5.57 and after using that backup file, my e-mail loaded without any problems. To avoid a recurrence, I truly hope that there is no "sunset" on 5.57--meaning a date after which the software will automatically update itself or stop workin...

The e-mail receive problem persists. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, redownloaded and reinstalled again, disabled my firewall and antivirus software and am still unable to receive my email from any of my 6 e-mail addresses over 3 ISP's. Steps completed as described, even with my firewall disabled (again!), I still receive the same error. Sadly, I cannot step back to the previous working version because the old version will not read a file used by the newest version. Same issue here. Using Norton 360 on Windows 7 Home Premium. Disabled the firewall, restarted EPIM. Each of my e-mail accounts (from different ISP's) resulted in the socket error mentioned above.
