7.62

Post by KmxSoft »

Well done for 7.62, it looks like there could be some good venhancements.

Hiwever one big negative is that after installing it, all of the rules I have built up over many months have disappeared. All gone, no chance of editing them so I've got to start defining rules all over again.

Not a happy bunny.

Hello,

do you mean Tools-> Message rules?
What was your previous version number? Was it Pro/Free?

Yes.

v7.6 Pro RC2. I had installed the last forum announcement regarding release, which probably explains RC2.

I recovered the situation by restoring the PC from a backup.

One thing this does appear to suggest is that we need rule export/import options. The rules are defined in a database table so I wouldn't think it would require rocket science to implement.

EPIM should be able to handle message rules without losing them. We have not heard any other reports about losing them...
We will monitor the situation.

Well all of my rules disappeared when I applied that release - the rules listbox was empty.

Did you first apply your rules in the RC2 version? In that case, the info may be in the "EPIM_Beta.ini" file and not the "EPIM.ini" file that is used for production versions of EPIM, ie, when you installed the fully released 7.62 version. To recover your rules, you would just have to rename the ini file from the Beta to the normal EPIM.ini version. I use the portable version, so the ini files are both in the program directory. Not sure if you use the installed version that the contents of the ini file go into the registry. That may be a little more difficult to recover. That's my guess as to what happened.

Message sorting rules are stored in database, thus change of INI (Beta/RC and release version indeed use different INI files) should not affect.

Ok, I'm sorry. Wrong guess from me.
