Windows 10, 64 bit, with latest updates.
When I configure ePIM to make backups in the database folder no backups are made.
Not automatically, not manually.
If I press the "Backup now" button ePIM reports a successful backup, but there isn't a backup.
When I backup to another disc all is fine.
I think the Programs folder requires more permissions to be written to.

Re: Backups
Can you confirm that WITH -- ENABLE BACKUP chk'd -- & the -- Database Folder button chk'd in Options/Backup folder -- the Folder Path you're looking in for backups has --- users\Your Admin\AppData\Roaming\EssentialPIM Pro -- in it? ..... What path if NOT?
In my case I have -- Selected Folder (Browse) -- chk'd with Backups going to an HDD D:\ drive EPIM folder instead of on the SSD where the App resides.
Also, in the future you should state WHICH W10 you have as 2004, 1909, 1903, etc MAY have different answers per unique problems known for specific Ver's.

Re: Backups
Win 10 2004 (the most recent version)
I'm looking for backups in "C:\Program Files (x86)\EssentialPIM Pro\Databases" because that where the original database is.
I've now configured to make backups to a different drive. That works and adds a level of safety. So I'm fine with that setup.
Anyway, when I select "Open" I see my database in "C:\Program Files (x86)\EssentialPIM Pro\Databases" but also 12 backups.
And judging the timestamps of those backups, it are the manual backups I made.
So I let my file manager search my whole SSD for one of those backup files and found it inL
C:\Users\XYZ\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\EssentialPIM Pro\Databases
So by the looks of it there's a virtual folder for the backups. All backups are there.
I make frequent automated backups of the database and the backups of it. Buy with the backups placed in different folder those backups weren't made...

Re: Backups
The Path I asked you to check IS the Path that EPIM Help shows for Database Management and where my DB was - Until I moved it from the SSD to the HDD.
HOW you got the database into Program Files (x86) -- and backup Locations -- that include VirtualStore - Without your having set it up yourself - is above my pay grade.
Max will show up soon and clarify for you, I'm sure, IF you want to pursue this further.

Re: Backups
For security reasons only programs with Administration rights can save to system folders like: \Program Files (x86)
Because this has not always been the case for backwards compatibility windows uses virtualStore for things programs try and save in these locations. Which means you'll find the files in: C:\Users\XYZ\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ instead.
If you REALLY want to save things in a system folder you can set EPIM to run as Administrator then select a system folder, disable UAC, or directly change permissions for that given system folder.
Note that disabling UAC or changing folder permissions on system files can cause system and security issues and running EPIM as administrator means you'll be prompt for rights at every lunch.
A fourth and considerably better option than the above to keep the program files and everything in the same location is to use the Portable version and place it in a none system folder such as C:\Portable Programs or C:\My Programs or ...etc
