no permission for read-write access to database C:\USERS\GABRIEL\## DATA ##\LISTEN_UND_DATEN\ESSENTIALPIM\DB\DATENBANK.EPIM.
I did a little bit of testing with alternate paths and came to the conclusion that the problem exists when the path contains the hash ("#") character. Can you fix this? Putting the DB file into another path really messes up my backup solution.
does the error appear immediately when you try to start EPIM? I can not reproduce the problem, trying with path C:\Users\Maksim\Desktop\## DATA ##\emails.epim
I have now found a workaround and will let you know everything I found out. The problem seems to be only triggered by the 8->9 DB conversion. When (1) I open the V8 DB file in another path (as described in the above post), (2) close EssentialPIM after, (3) copy the converted V9 file back the original path and (4) open it from there it works fine. So this solved it for me. I am not certain what the problem with the path is. My guess is the special char because it is somewhat unusual. Maybe you can test if the conversion happens okay in your test path? Besides that, the offending path is watched by Google Drive and the other is not. I checked all the file and path properties (Attributes, Owner, Rights etc) and couldn't find any difference between the paths.
Again, for me this is solved now, but if you want to pursue this for the sake of others or the next update and have any questions I'm happy to assist you. I can remember btw that I had problems with DB conversion and access rights before, but can't atm remember what the problem was back then.
Oh and forgot to answer your actual question^^: Yes, it happens immediately when the file is attempted to be opened. It happens both when you manually select "Open" from the menu and when it auto-opens the last open file on startup.
[more testing] No, it's not the hashes in the path. It's something else. Tried a number of additions variations and the only thing it is still consistent with is the path being watched by Google Drive. I give up now.
Okay, one more entry and I'm done. It is not only Google Drive watching, but also NetBackReplicator 4.5.12.1108. I'm not sure which one because I've somehow lost the ability to reproduce it anymore. I don't quite understand why and I'm not sure if I've got the time to investigate atm.
