If fill colors are used with presets it seems to cause a lot of bugs.
When you first make the style it appears to work fine, but then when you go to another note and try to apply it it will fail to apply.
Secondly and probably due to the above only one style can be made with fill color as the system will give you an error when trying to make a second one telling you that the style already exists, even though the fill color is different.

Creating a new style has an (?) undocumented feature of coping the format applied to the text (even when there is a format that EPIM itself can't create, i.e. a dotted blue underline).
But it fully works only for the background colour.
