Editing Repeating Appointments Takes Excessive Time

Post by Bigs »

I have set up a daily routine, with reminders (I lack self-control...) for 'appointments' (I'd rather call them tasks, but they seem to be a separate thing)

When I edit the appointments on the calendar I click the OK and...

...

...

...It takes forever to finally accept the change?

We're literally talking about 30 seconds or more before it accepts the change. This isn't really usable.

Win7 with 4GB RAM. That's 4,000 megabytes of RAM, which should be plenty enough for a calendar??

Thanks

What's the number of recurrences for the edited event? Does it have any end date or ends after a certain number of occurrences?
Will the same issue happen with single-time events? Thanks!

I set the recurrences to 'No end date'

Let me experiment...

Mmm, if I set to 10 recurrences then it works as expected, seems it's the lack of end date that causes it to freeze up for so long. I just tried 50 recurrences, still working OK.

I'm trying to transition from Thunderbird, which doesn't do this on the same machine with the same kind of entries. I guess for now I can go through them all and change to some fairly low number, though obviously this isn't ideal.

Do you think this will be fixed in an update any time soon?

Thanks

That configuration shouldn't cause any issues. Could you please share a screenshot of the File->Database Management dialog?

Yep, the number of events seems to be too many for your PC specs (I think the amount of RAM is mostly to blame here). Hence such a delay.

New issue...

When dragging appointments to a later time in the day, the thing moves but when you open the appointment it still shows the earlier time?

For example I had a reminder on Tuesdays and Thursdays to work out in my home gym, at 10AM, linked to a printable workout sheet for that day. I've found that problematic so tried to drag the appointment to 2PM.

When you open it, it still says 10AM?

So I tried manually changing the time. Click OK... now the entry has vanished entirely??

Also, when the alarm did go off today, before vanishing, it played the wrong sound effect, suggesting a corrupt database.

I am very close to just giving up with this software entirely. I love the concept but keep running into such issues

What's the program version? You might also want to try the 10.0 RC1, which is available from here: viewtopic.php?t=36506
