Error in V.9.9.6

Post by a8907433 »

I have this (or a similar error) each time I start EPIM- It occured first in 9.9.5, I think. After this error I use task manager to close EPIM, then start again, and it works.
Pictures and log-files are attached.
Sending an error report is not possible, because EPIM hangs after this error(s).

It is not the first time I had such errors.... sometimes I just ignore them- the next minor update is not long away  , and then the error is gone.

Thanks for the error logs. I assume it only happens on a particular database?

Yes, I have only one database.
It happens, when I start EPIM short after turning the computer on, starting firefox and then EPIM. And just at start, an appointment pops up and the mails are checked. But this worked for years now, I did not change anything. So, I assume, this occurs only with my database, but there is no sense in knowing a new database is without this error, because I have to use THIS ONE database.

If the error is database dependent, we either need to get your database to be able to reproduce the error or you could sync it into the new one using EPIM Sync.

ok, now I synchronized to a new database. It seems to work without troubles. But- This problem is still here (see: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=36175):
Notes are arranged by name and not by custom order. This is still a big problem!

Simply switch the ordering option to the one you had in your previous database.

REALLY!!! Thank you! It works!

But I have to say- exactly THIS is a case, where you can say: EPIM is not intuitive! Off course, I watched all the options in synchronizer, and there is no sorting option. So, if I synchronize and the sorting order is lost..... off course I think, EPIM Synchronizer does NOT synchronize the correct order. Because- when I click in the new database on "custom order", it is sorted correct, custom- i.e. the synchronizer DOES synchronize the correct sorting order, but it is not shown without new sorting in the fresh database- why should I assume, the correct order is synchronized (it is saved in the database), but NOT DISPLAYED?

For such simple things you shouldn´t be forced to read half the manual (but- I don´t know if the manual even states this fact).
