9.9.7 Access Violation on a simple calendar date selection

Post by bgorgnizr »

Hello. Before I report the issue with the 9.9.7 update let me commend you for a product that basically has served well. I purchased EssentialPim Pro in 2018, and except for the occasional hiccup with a release here and there, it has functioned for my basic needs.
However, 9.9.7 has yielded what appears to be the most persistent access violation error. I've sent email when it occurs (at least the log that is
preformatted to send to errors@essentialpim.com, which I've had to copy/paste to my browser email client to be able to email).
I've sent two emails this week.
Luckily I had 9.4.1 version of the exe accessible.
I'm using Windows 10 Professional 64 bit.
The full text of the access violation which evidently occurs at the same address has grown in frequency since first reported; all I tried to do today was select 7/26 from the calendar. A Screenshot is attached. P.S. Would it be possible to make previous versions of the exe downloadable? It seems the only option is to download 9.9.7. I guess I'll have to make manual backups.

There was an error during the execution of this program.
Click "Send" to submit the report to the developer. Please also provide any steps necessary to reproduce the problem.

When does the error occur? Is it reproducible?

Older EssentialPIM Pro versions are available here:

Thanks. As described, it occurred by selecting a date while in calendar, immediately after opening. Unfortunately I'm engaged in multiple priorities and need something that won't hinder progress. I'll reinstall the last successful version beyond 9.4.1 and wait for 9.9.8+ release.

We need to be able to reproduce the problem first in order to fix it. So please do the following when time allows:
1. make a copy of your database file
2. open the created copy with EPIM and delete all the important data from it, leaving just unimportant data
3. optimize the database, exit, start again and see if the problem is still there
4. if it is, archive the file it and forward to us
5. we will try to reproduce the issue on our side and fix it
Thanks!

Should be fixed in the upcoming new 9.10 version. Here's the download link if you wish to try it out a bit earlier before it's released publicly (also already available as an auto update if you're on the Beta update channel):
