I'd like to suggest that EPIM Notes be available as it's own separate program. Working with and sharing EPIM databases is a truly amazing document format, but it can be a huge barrier to get other people to use them, as a lot of people are unwilling to deal with all-in-one programs, and even when I explain that they can disable all the other "junk" as they call it, I am met with heavy resistance and ultimately wind up using Cherrytree instead of EPIM with many clients, family, and friends.
I think this is a valid/worth whiled request, especially given the number of people I see on the forums who use EPIM exclusively for it's note functionally.

Re: Stand alone note editor/viewer
I would certainly use a stand alone Note viewer/editor, ESPECIALLY if it had the ability to have more than one database open at a time. So it would for example have a tab on top so you could have more than one database open, that way you could treat that database files just like a normal documents in the viewer/editor.

[Not ideal, but maybe an option?]
What if when EPIM is installing it asked what features the person wanted to enable instead of enabling them all by default?

I've seen the request to use multiple databases at once come up several times and more or less thought it rather pointless. Though in this context it would actually make quite a lot of sense. I do rather like the idea of being able to toss around EPIM note databases as if they were regular document files. It would open up some interesting uses for them, but in order for it to work well I think there would need to be at least a basic free universal cross platform viewer for Windows, Linux, Mac, iOS, & Android.

Interesting topic, thanks for bringing it up, will surely give it some thought.
Android version of EssentialPIM. Keep all your data in sync!
Re: Stand alone note editor/viewer
I really like this idea, mainly because I've always really loved the old MS help files and have always been disappointed that there's not a good / easy way to write and share normal files in that format. Which really the notes in EPIM are basically the same thing. Quick search, tree structure, anchored linked, and even subject tags.
As a standard document format / viewer experience I think the only major feature tweak would be giving the Anchors their own dock-able pane, that way they could more easily be used as fast access bookmarks, and of course tweaking the UI in general to be notes only.
To me it .epim would become a pretty great release and general format at that point for research notes, help documents, manuals, and even books, as really it offers a lot of unique features that nothing from MS office or the easy to use ebook formats like epub offer.
