Conversation - how should this work?
I don't see any difference between having conversation checked or not.
How should it work?
The default is the main window, and then all responses go to the sent folder.
Does this mean a conversation/ threaded view can overlap different folders?
Or does it presuppose one folder for all outgoing and incoming mail?
Somewhat confused any light would be much appreciated.
TIA
Brian (The Newbie) doing his best to trying to master some of the finer points of EPIM Pro. And itit looks very good in many respects, butI would certainly put in a strong plea for the addition of colour, and the abiliy to link tags to filters. IMHO as a newbie this would make EPIM world class in many respects.

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
Hello,
EPIM tries to put all relevant emails into one conversation. If you do not see any difference (I suppose that means you do not see a single conversation)- then EPIM does not find any relevant emails to put together.
In future, please post screenshots to demonstrate the question.

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
Thanks Max.
Any conversation must involve me.
When I send an email, it goes into the send box.
Does this mean that conversation only works in the send box?
And no9t the general email box?

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
Brian,
I think, when I wrote an email, you reply, I reply again, and so on.... topic1 - ReTopic1-Re[2]Topic1.....
I was looking for conversations for myself- there are not so many as I thought. I think, it has to be a completly chain of emails and answers. Because I delete often mails in this chain (they are repetitive), the chain is not comnplete and threre is no conversation.

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
My point is all my outgoing email goes into "Sent Items" so conversation should work in that folder but it does not seem to.
Are you saying that if ONE emaail in the chain is deleted, the chain won't show up in the Sent Items folder?
TIA for any further light!

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
I see no connection with "sent items" at all. If I empty sent emails or not, has no consequences for conversations. I regularly delete all sent emails in "sent items".
I think, EPIM (and other programs) recognize mails, answers, replies, re-replies and so on. Like the "ping" "pong" in table tennis. If one "ping is missing, you have ...pong pong..... - and that is not recognized as conversation.
This is my picture as a laymen.

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
Mail "Conversation" feature works both in Inbox and Sent Items. It uses bunch of parameters to determine whether emails are related (e.g. addresses, subjects and unique email identifiers, etc). Britur, if you have emails that you are sure should be grouped into "Conversation", please:
- make a screenshot, demonstrating you have feature "Conversations" enabled and emails are not threaded
- export the 2 emails using File-> Export-> Mail-> EML and send them to epimsupport@essential... (including the link to this forum and the screenshot)
We will then review the case. Conversations are a pretty popular feature and I doubt it is not working for some of the users.

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
Just to try and clarify the meaning here, forgive me.
Is it the case that if one email in the chain is missing or gets deleted, the other messages will not appear as a conversation in threaded view?
Don't quite understand the last sentence, Max, of your post.
"I doubt it is not working for some of the users"
Do you mean it is working for some of the users?
Or
"You doubt it is working for some users"
Brian - not trying to be excessively pedantic!

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
Since mail is split between:
a) inbox folder and b) sent items folder
b) if conversation is activated for both these folders, in which folder will the threaded view be visi8ble?

I will rephrase it- it is highly unlikely for the feature to be not working in your case, because there are many other users for whom it is working fine.Do you mean it is working for some of the users?
Or
"You doubt it is working for some users"

Re: Conversation - how should this work?
The strange thing about your answer to B above, is that maybe the itens are copied to both folders, namely,
a) the inbox
and
b) sent items
I(s that really coirrect?? Sorry to ask again as I don't see it in either folder, let alone both!

They are not copied, but they are displayed in a thread. I have posted above the steps to resolve the threading issue.
