Dear Max,
How to update FB server version?
I have the same since the beginning, that is 2.1.4.something Firebird 2.1. This is what reads in FB server control panel.
I do not want to mess up anything, however since Windows 8 FB looses simetimes license numbers for the other PC, mentioned that some time ago. Maybe the newest FB version solves this problem. But how to update it safely?
Piotr

Re: Setup EPIM using Internet Data Base
Hello,
you do no need to update anything manually. EPIM Non-Network uses embedded Firebird server, which goes every time with Desktop/Portable version.
For Network version, a proper firebird server version goes inside the installation package. So far please do not use 7.0 in Network mode.

OK, thank you, Max, for the reply.
So if I update (except 7 RC) automatically, does it mean that I also update FB server along with EPIM if there is FB update available?

Re: Setup EPIM using Internet Data Base
Hi,
I have updated to the newest Epim Pro Biz (Network), and the problem persists. Which makes net working annoying: everytime I cannot connect to the host (FB lost the license number), I have to go to another room, ask my colleague to leave her computer for a moment, then I need to close two DB running on the server, go to Computer>Manage>Services and so on, shut down FB server, then FB guard (this precise sequence), and restart the server. Then I need to restart those two DB on my colleague PC, and then come back to mine, and open two DB. If I am lucky, and FB "recalls" the licenses, then we can work peacefully, until the next restart, wake of the PC Sorry, but this is not what one expects from "a network version".
I use still old version of FB. How to upgrade safely to the version which does not have the above problem?
Once again, all of this started with Win 8.1.
Look forward to solving this,
Piotr

Re: Setup EPIM using Internet Data Base
Hi @Max,
@admin
Got the question: if on the VPS server (Google Cloud) I have Apache already installed, running another app for project management, would the installation of Firebird for EPIM somehow interfere with that?

@Max
Does EPIM db work with Apache or only with Firebird?

Hello,
EPIM requires Firebird SQL. Apache is irrelevant in this regards.
