Cannot Sync Contacts Between Desktop EPIM & Android EPIM

Post by szucker01 »

Desktop EPIM Free 7.1
Android EPIM 4.2.1
Windows 7 Pro SP1 32 bit
Motorola Droid Maxx (XT1080) Verizon Android Version 4.4.4

In Android EPIM Settings PC Sync Settings if "Sychronize contacts with" is set to "Phone" I can perform a Sync without any problems; however, if I set "Sychonize contacts with" to "EssentialPIM contacts" and perform a Sync I get an "Access Violation" in a Sychronization Status window (screenshot attached).

Please try the following version:
http://www.essentialpim.com/download/te ... ease_2.apk
This is the upcoming 4.2.2 version. Will the problem be gone with it?

The problem has not gone away. I installed the update on my phone and tried to perform a Sync with "Synchronize contacts with" set to "EssentialPIM contacts" but received the same error message. I then deleted the android synchronization and recreated it and tried the sync again and still received the same error message.

I enabled extensive logging and tried to sync again which failed with same error message; log file attached. However, it looks like the most current log file is from August 1.

Thank you but the log file is from EssentialPIM 6.58. Please try to restart EPIM after you have enabled the extensive logging and then synchronize again. In this case the new log file should be created.

Excellent, thanks! Is there an error message on Android, as well? If yes, it will show you where it saves the log file. Please attach it to your next post.

No, I've never seen an error message on Android EPIM.

Were you able to learn anything from the logfile? Is there a workaround so that I can sync my desktop epim contacts with my android epim contacts or do I need to wait to see if a future version will allow my contacts to sync?

I uninstalled the android epim version (it showed as 4.2.2 on my phone) you attached earlier to this forum topic and installed version 4.2.2 from the google play store. I performed a Sync with "Synchronize contacts with" set to "EssentialPIM contacts" and am happy to say it was successful. Thank you so much!

Reviving an old thread since it's related.

Am I correct in understanding that now that I have enabled this feature, items I added to EPIM's Contacts will be synced with Android's Contacts application, so that names will be displayed as expected when a call comes in?

Thank you.

You're partly correct. The Android default dialer (or a contacts app) will have access to the EPIM account where the contacts are stored, enabling you to see the names for incoming calls. However, these contacts will not be synchronized with the above mentioned apps.
