Android tells me about many crashes of AEPIM and background usage. Why?

Post by poet-man »

Hi there,
for some time now, I get quite a lot of messages from Android, that AEPIM has crashed (close app, send report ...). Of course I've sent some of these.
This i.e. happens, wenn installing/adding accounts to/an email app (i.e. Samsung email app, gmail app).
In addition to that, Android tells me that AEPIM has used a lot of energy in background.

I wonder, why this is. Don't have used AEPIM in that times. And what is running in background? And what crashes over and over again and why?

As a matter of fact, some many weeks ago I suddenly got problems with my beloved Samsung eMail app, out of the blue (experts there don't have any idea whatsoever, why) as I have quite heavy problems to send answering mails (absolutely NO credential-/wrong-server-data-problems). I wonder whether all this has something to do with AEPIM (yes, option to have system contacts account in AEPIM is activated).

Anybody any experiences/ideas as to that?

Thanks

Please try to temporarily disable the auto-sync feature, will it help?

If you mean the feature that EPIM will sync automatically, if there is a wifi connection ... this feature in AEPIM sync module is disabled already.
Could it be of help, to delete AEPIM sync, or is this of no relevance?

On which way will I get any response to the error logs I sent (see above).
I just ask, because I never ever used that way of communicating.
Thanks.

You should get a response only when the issue is still not clear, after analyzing the logs.

So I will not get any response, when logs seem ok?

Yes, although not when the logs are ok (they always are) but when they contain all the necessary info :)

... some more experiences to this ...

whenever I try to add a mail account to a mail app (i.e. Samsung Mail app, GMX Mail App, Gmail app) I get the message that EssentialPIM has crashed several times (see screenshot).

This is absolute repro-able.

As well I get a message from time to time in Android10 that EssentialPIM has used a lot of energy in background during last days/weeks. The last time I got it, I tabed on putting the app in standby.

So still I wonder, why all this is the case. Why AEPIM crashes, when adding a mail acoount to some mail app, why AEPIM uses all that energy in background and what for (widget?), what will be the case with AEPIM after I have set it to standby now?
AND - above all - why I have all that problems with sending mails in those mail apps (to remember: Mails are not sent, dissappear in nowhere and are not there anywhere (not in sent, not in draft, not in waste)

The problem is, I donot have any hint at all, what to do and where to begin.
And I am not very fond of setting up my tablet from scratch, which would mean weeks of work. What makes me nervous is, that AEPIM crashes (according to screenshot).

Hopefully maybe somebody has similar experiences .....

thanks
