Birthday function not working in AEPIM 5.4
Greetings, one and all. The following problem seems unique to EPIM for Android 5.4, though I noticed it while having problems synchronizing the calendar module with Windows EPIM 7.62.
1. If I create a new contact in AEPIM, I can enter a birthday and other information and save the contact. When I look at the contact in what I will call summary view (picture with list of information below), the name and all the other information display, but the birthday does not. When I go in to edit the contact, the birthday field is blank. (The gray word "Text" shows what is supposed to go there.)
2. If I import a contact from Windows EPIM, the contact in summary view shows the birthday in the format yyyy-mm-dd. When editing the contact in AEPIM, however, no birthday is shown, and if I enter a new birthday, neither birthday is saved.
Either way, no birthdays show up in the AEPIM calendar.
All of this applies to anniversaries as well as birthdays.
I have deleted the calendar and the contacts from AEPIM and re-imported them from Windows EPIM: no change.
I also tried using different date and time formats in Windows EPIM, but this makes no difference. Since I can reproduce the problem in Android without Windows (point 1. above), I would guess that the problem lies there.
With 520 contacts, I am afraid to sync in both directions, fearing I might have to re-enter all the birthdays manually.
My phone is a Galaxy S7 Edge. Both the phone and AEPIM (and Windows and Windows EPIM) are set to use the German language, in which birthday is "Geburtstag".
To illustrate the problem:
A. Contact imported (birthday can be read, but does not show up in calendar):
B. In edit mode, birthday is gone:
C. Trying to enter birthday manually:
D. Birthday appears to have been entered:
E. However, after saving the contact, the birthday is gone:
Hope you can help! Thanks!

Re: Birthday function not working in AEPIM 5.4
Could you please check out the latest 5.4.1 version, will there be the same problem?

Re: Birthday function not working in AEPIM 5.4
I downloaded 5.4.1 from your website this morning (it isn't on Google Play yet), deleted the AEPIM contacts and did a one-way sync with Windows EPIM, but nothing has changed. Creating a new contact in AEPIM leads to exactly the same phenomenon described above, in which the birthday is not stored.

Re: Birthday function not working in AEPIM 5.4
We're not able to reproduce either of the problems and this is the first report of its kind. Please make a backup, uninstall and reinstall the app. If the problems are still there (try it out without restoring a backup first), make a short video demonstrating the first problem. Thanks!

Re: Birthday function not working in AEPIM 5.4
Hi,
I have a Samsung S7 with stock Android 7.0 and patch level of 1 January 2018. It's the S7 Flat e not Edge but with exception of the screen, hardware and rom should be the same.
I've tried creating a new contact and I don't have any problems with birthdays.

Re: Birthday function not working in AEPIM 5.4
Thank you so much for the replies and for trying to reproduce the issue. Reinstalling AEPIM 5.4.1 eliminated the problem as far as new contacts entered on the Android phone go. Synchronizing 1-way Windows EPIM 7.62 → Android EPIM made the problem come back, but after reinstalling Win EPIM 7.62 (as well as AEPIM a second time), I think the problem is gone. A fresh install is always a good idea.
However:
I got this to work by synchronizing one module at a time. Whenever I try to synchronize all of them at once, the synchronization gets stuck. There is no more network traffic. I wait up to half an hour and the procedure is never finalized. Each time I try this, it gets stuck while synchronizing a different module, so I don't know where the problem could lie. I tried doing this with a new, very small database, but could not reproduce the problem.
For me, Win 7.5.x and Android 5.3.5 worked wonderfully together. I've been having synchronization issues since 7.6.x and especially A 5.4.x came out. Sync takes longer and longer, and individual items are sometimes missing, but appear if the sync is repeated.
I do not use EPIM e-mail, so I have a small database (mostly contacts and their photos — about 40 MB). I sync via USB to eliminate the possibility of any Wi-Fi problems. I do have some user-defined fields in both contacts and tasks, and was wondering whether there are any characters (like / or ; ) that could cause problems.
Any ideas you have would be much appreciated. Thanks for all your hard work and the great customer support.

Re: Birthday function not working in AEPIM 5.4
We would love to see the log file of synchronization that gets stuck. In this case we could find the cause of the problem and fix it.
