EPIM Android Back button not working as expected for notes

Hi

There are bugs around implementing the back button in notes

For example, when opening a note, if by mistake I click in the text, then the Android Back button saves automatically the content and changes the modification date : it's bad :? // The same bad behavior if text is modified...

The Android Back button shall be a way to go back

If the note is modified, a pop-up shall appear to validate or not the modifications

Regards

This is by design so far. Let's see if there's more requests about possible way to change that default behavior.

If I try Android Calendar : https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... d.calendar
When you open the content of an event and go back, the modification date of the event is not changed : no modification
When you modify the content of an event and go back without clicking on save button, the app asks for saving or not the modifications : very friendly

When you go into the Edit mode, EPIM automatically assumes there's going to be some edits and therefore saves the note upon going back. And some (most of the) people prefer to have the ability to quickly save changes, without confirming them.

So if we get more opinions from other users who would prefer to see the app working as you described, we might change the default behavior.

Hi

Possible with the quick change, but in case of writing error : how the user can go back at least for the previous modification ?
It already happens to me to inadvertently delete parts of note content without being able to recover the content

And what seems to me wrong with the reasoning is assuming some edits
If no edits, the note shall not be saved with a modified date change
When you use syncing or filtering by date or sorting by date, this causes erroneous information/filtering/syncing
I wonder why waiting for users in that particular case as it seems to me mostly a bug behavior contrary to the case above

Regards

If you make a change to a note that's not intentional you can always discard it by clicking on Menu->Discard. You'll get your note contents back as if there were no changes.

If you do not intent to do any edits, why do you switch to the edit mode? Also, how could this case erroneous syncing? And as I already said - that's not a bug but an intentional behavior.

Hi

1/
When using a smartphone with one hand, sometimes, you touch the text of the note with the thumb, and it opens it for writing.
The only way to cancel it one hand is to use the back button...
If you decide by design to save the note, even though there is nothing modified really, then the note is set as modified, synced with Outlook, and the note becomes first if sorted by date in a list of modified although nothing has changed ?!
At least, if switched to edit mode with no characters are entered, the back button shall not save the content...
It can also happen if you want to copy part of the text in the note : very very easy to enter the edit mode

2/
Perhaps part of the misunderstanding is the trench translation
I'm French...
I'll give you modification to be as other software : Windows, Office, ...
"Jeter" shall be changed to "Annuler" because "Jeter" means throwing the note to the trash...
"Effacer" shall be changed to "Supprimer" because "Effacer" means to empty the note content to write something else inside...
Finally, saying that, I understand the purpose of the design : easy for short notes and beware of big notes during manipulations : -)
Except for 1/ because no change of the text shall not trigger a real save

Regards

1. Okay, I agree. Will adjust the app accordingly so that if there's no changes, such a note will not be saved.
2. Thanks, have changed the wording in French translation.

Thank you very much
Points 1 & 2 done, I will say that you're design seems the right one on second thoughts for managing quick notes
And quick notes are the first target contray to very big notes
For very big notes, the correction 1 & 2 will ensure understandability and no changes in case of just a simple handling error with fingers
Seems perfect at the end :)

I have just installed EPIM 9.4
It seems I'm not able to get the bug 1/ anymore although the Android version is the same as before
The wording 2/ misunderstanding is unchanged so far...

1/ The bug is yet here, but dependent on other conditions = it does not happen every time = I will open other posts to follow the cases
2/ Not corrected in Android after release of PC EPIM 9.4
:(

This was a release of the Windows version of EPIM, not the Android one.

Yes, I understand that : I've just hoped that the Android version could have been updated as well with the development phase of EPIM 9.4... Users are not aware of Android releases unless scrutinizing Google Play Store updates ; -) Regards.

1/ For example, the "EPIM 9.4 Pro 32 bits - Default Arial 10 resized to 11 by EPIM Android" is eloquent : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35368
