Android EPIM<->Google Sync Issue with Secondary Google Calendar Involved

Post by dream_weaver »

Windows 10, running EssentialPIM 9.4.1 Pro Portable on a Flash Drive
EssentialPIM Pro 5.7.4 on Android 8.1.0

On a shared google calendar, there was a contact where the birthday was set to every 1 day rather than every 1 year.
I had noticed it on my EssentialPIM and corrected it.
It corrected it in my shared google calendar.

In a effort to try cleaning it up, I did an EPIM>Google, one way.
I tried doing an EPIM>Android, one way.

Long story short, I purged the Android data, and have not been able to one-way sync EPIM Pro Portable to the Android. The process hangs, and if I try to re-initiate, it hangs again, and I end up with multiple calendar entries. I have tried optimizing the data on the Pro Portable, and am still unable to get the Pro Portable version and Android to complete a synchronization, again, if tried again, the entries get duplicated.

Right now, both the Pro Portable and Android versions have the google calendar sync disabled.

edit: When I stopped the process, the Synchronization Status window on the PC stated:
Access violation at address 0155D29A in module 'EssentialPIM.exe'. Read of address 00000008

Thanks, in advance, for your consideration in this matter.

I had done that.
I'm optimizing the database again with v9.5 now.
I've purged the android database.
I've cleared the Android sync data in File->Database Management.
It is still set to EPIM->Android, one-way.
30 days from the past, all future.

The Synchronization Status is showing a completed progress, with the status indicating it is Storing Appointments... and has been that way for several minutes now.
edit: I've stopped the process after letting it run for 22 minutes. I could let it run longer this evening, if you think more time will resolve it. Please advise.

It finally stopped after an hour.
It loaded all appointments except for the last two created yesterday, and none of the events I created today.
It did not load the notes or tasks.

I created replacement notes for the two that did not transfer and ran another one-way, EPIM->Android.
It another hour, and now I have two of each event going back 30 days. <sigh>

edit:
Synchronization Status: Out of memory
(It was persistent this time because of a Socket Error @10060 Connection timed out with Google)

Please forward us the log file, it can be found here: Tools->Options->Synchronization, Browse... and its filename should start with "AndroidSync". Thanks!

I installed 9.5.1
Everything looks fine from a desktop standpoint.

Another one-way sync: EPIM-->Android, last 30 day, all future events, all modules.
The stopwatch has about 1 hour and 45 minutes on it. To be fair, the android was sitting next to me as I enjoyed "Diamonds are Forever", and caught my eye when the pattern changed from syncing to 'complete', but the stop watch was about a minute away from me.

Several records for the past couple of days did not get transferred, none of the tasks, none of the notes, and I didn't compare for all of the contacts.

The versatility of the PC version certainly rivals the Franklin Planner system I've used for years.
The Android side kick is a delight when it was syncing in a reasonable time frame.

I'm attaching AndroidSync_2020_11_05_18_27_49.zip to an email with

There's more than 70K events, please try limiting the synchronization range by date in Tools->Options->Synchronization->Your_Android_Device_Name.

Thank-you.
That, in conjunction with purging duplicate entrees, did the trick.
After the initial reload, the last sync took 16.5 seconds!

The attempt was to play EssentialPIM off of two Google Calendars.
EssentialPIM as the main calendar.
Google Primary as the EssentialPIM owner's Google Calendar.
Google Secondary as the third party to share mutual appointments with.

The setup that fouled up the sync was as followed.

EssentialPIM shared 2-Way with Google Primary Account.
Google Primary Account and Google Secondary Account were allowed to read each other's appointments.
Android EPIM was set to synchronize with Google Primary Account automatically.

Attempting resolution.
2-way sync from EssentialPIM Android-->EssentialPIM Pro Portable (Past events: 30 days/Future events: 2-years)
1-way sync from EssentialPIM Pro Portable-->Google Primary Account
Google Primary Account to let Google Secondary Account see selected Google Primary data

Disabled Android EPIM from syncing to Google for now, as duplicates were generated somehow and propagated between the platforms.
