Vibration and flashing remain on continuously

Post by marmegint »

It vibrates and flashes even when vibration and flicker are turned off in the settings.

It works fine after reinstalling the application,
but reloading only the database (withot settings), the error will occur.

Can the database affect the default settings?

(My phone is Sony Xperia 1, Android 9, AEPIM v5.7.4.)

You mean this happens when there's a reminder? That's probably related to the system-wide settings.

I thought about it, me too, but this's not a setting disabled by the system.
On the contrary.

These two functions of AEPIM work even if it is turned off in its own settings.
Does Android force features to work from AEPIM?
It is possible?

AEPIM is able to set up its notification settings through the system channel only starting with Android 8.0. Although it should work correctly once configured..

In the EPIM main channel:
Vibration is OFF
Flashing is OFF

Where else can there be an error in the settings?

It works fine after reinstalling the application,
but reloading only the database (withot settings), the error will occur.

EPIM follows the system settings (the ones you set in the main channel). If you turn this off completely, will there be any reminders shown?

Yes, it will.
When "Show Notifications" ("Értesítések mutatása" in the picture above) is turned off, it still vibrates, blinks, plays the notification sound, and reminder appears in the notification bar, and also on the locked screen.

Did you reach the EPIM main channel notification setting via EPIM setting ?

If you go to the phone App Manager and go the notification setting for EPIM, can you see EPIM's other "categories" notification settings ?

Since you mentioned "reloading the database" I think the category setting is the issue in this case.

Have you compared an event with category and an event without category ?

Thanks.

>>>Did you reach the EPIM main channel notification setting via EPIM setting ?
Yes, I did.

>>>If you go to the phone App Manager and go the notification setting for EPIM, can you see EPIM's other "categories" notification settings ?
Yes, I can.

>>>Since you mentioned "reloading the database" I think the category setting is the issue in this case.
Here, however, notifications are turned on, as are categories (except for the bottom two).
The main channel and its prohibitions it, they can avoid?
The global settings (in the main channel) for these (vibrate, flashing, etc.) still don't work, whether I turn one of the categories on or off.

>>>Have you compared an event with category and an event without category ?
My all events so far have categories.
I'm trying to test one of the existing ones. I will write the results.
However, the newly created events (so far) work well
(If I understand the question correctly.)

Here among the categories I noticed that there are some that are double listed, they are far apart in the list.
In the app, however, there are no two of these.
There is a category listed twice here that nowhere is a category anywhere that does not currently exist in the app (I can't even delete it for that reason).

I'm sorry, my English is very poor!
I use Google Translate.

I have a very old database (it can be 10-15 years old).
In recent years, there have often been various errors in the synchronizations between AEPIM and WEPIM.
Those program errors were either not identified or, although they were corrected, the database may have errors or anomalies that may have persisted after the program errors were corrected (if this may exist).
I’m afraid I can only get rid of such problems if I re-create the entire database from scratch after a clean installation and don’t use any restores, backup (neither settings nor databases (and even for Android, I take care of a hard reset)).
However, this is a huge amount of work, and what is the guarantee that these kinds of mistakes will not happen again?

Where to start or more practical creating a new database, on Android or Windows?
There's a difference?

Thank you.

I have tried what marmegint reported. I think It is reproducible. I tried this with event A and event B with different categories ( on the same date, seperated by 5 minutes ) and both category-notification settings is on (sound and vibration). Their notifications do not adhere the main channel settings which is off.

Also, there is a chance that category notification A "covers up" the category notification B so that the notification for event B does not go off. Once I move event A to the future date, event B notification goes off.

NB: I use phone with Android 9.

Thanks.

dirmansyah, if the main notification channel is off, there will not be any notifications.

marmegint, do I get it right that notifications work ok for the newly created events and only those created in the past do not seem to work?

So far I have experienced this.
But I just tested it on a new post too, and it also indicated already.
Even if it is turned off in the main channel, it indicates all forms of notifications (vibrates, blinks, plays the notification sound, and appears in the notification bar, and on the locked screen too).

Screenshot_20201205-113513.png

Plus, unfortunately, the notification sound isn’t not my choice, but the android’s own notification sound, no matter how I set it to anything in AEPIM (as I indicated in other topic).
The notification tone is now not appropriate for new entries, not just old ones.

I'm sorry, unfortunately I have little time to test, try different phenomena every day, because it takes hours.
Whenever I can, I try to deal with these and the ones I have previously (also) detected (in older versions too), but not yet indicated.

EPIM is very good software, full of practical, useful, and necessary features.
It is definitely important for me too that the various issues and problems are solved.

Thank you in advance for your patience and help.
