Resize fotos in notes? - II

Post by poet-man »

One more question to the same subject ...
Adding fotos to notes in AEPIM, I found the database growing huge.
Adding ONE foto made backupfile grow by more than 3 MB. Is there a possibility to reduce (file)size of fotos?

What you can probably do is to select an option to exclude attachments from backups.

Obviously fotos in notes are not counted as attachments. I had always excluded attachements in past. Nevertheless backups increase by far when there are fotos in notes

This is logical then, the backup size will be increased by the size of the pictures you insert into notes.

Maybe you could possibly explain to me, what I just realised?
I excluded notes from backup, but backup file size didn't change. Then I also excluded other parts of AEPIM from backup (say only passwords were included). Still the backup file size stayed huge.
With inserting pictures in notes, file size went up from 4 MB to 40 MB. But excluding parts of data, this didn't seem to change file size.
Why?
Thanks

Understood!
Just to make sure, all points come together ... what I found, is as follows ...
1) Adding images to notes makes AEPIM backup file huge. It stays that way, even if notes is excluded from backup.
2) Seems that images are added to a note in AEPIM in big file size. If so, it would be a good idea, to compress images (like jpg).
3) ... (this was reported to support already) ... seems that sync from AEPIM to WinEPIM crashes, if notes with images are part of it (if I remember correctly WinEPIM says, that connection was interrupted). Excluding notes from sync, sync runs ok.
