Starred contacts/Favourite contacts

Post by kdgdr »

I sync EPIM Contacts between Win-EPIM and Android-EPIM.

This is my setup in Android-EPIM:
Contact module is set to NOT sync with Google contacts
Contact module is set to use EPIM systemaccount

As such I get synced contacts visible in the Android contacts app. That app has Favorite Contacts/Starred Contacts functionality, which I would like to use while EPIM remains my source of contact information. What should I do in EPIM to some contacts in order to have them appear as favorite contacts in Android contacts app after syncing?

Thanks!

That depends on the default contacts app installed on your phone, whether it allows marking contacts from another accounts as favorite/starred.

Default contacts app on phone does allow to "Star" contacts from another account - like the EPIM account. So I can indeed mark an epim contact as starred in the default contacts app.

However, in that case:
- the contact information itself originates from EPIM
- which contacts are favorites originates from the default contacts app on the phone

In fact I was hoping to manage all contact information from within Win-EPIM - meaning also which contacts are favorites/starred and which are not after syncing to Android-EPIM.

Regardless of the Android situation, I would like to be able to mark contacts in EPIM-Win as favorites.

With close to 1000 contacts, doing a search for the same ones over and over again is tedious.

Any chance of adding a "favorite" designation to a contact?

This is possible, of course. Will take this into account.

+1
One important benefit of EPIM is that it generally allows to sync a lot of information between Windwos & Android directly, no need for the cloud.
But for now, that is not possible for which contacts are favorites. In that respect, a "Favorite"-designation in both Win EPIM and Android EPIM is crucial.
