mail notification

Post by a8907433 »

I just noticed, the mail notification with a special sound I set in EPIM for notification is gone! I set ChatBeep.wav as notification-sound for my emails, as I did in Thunderbird. This worked for many EPIM-versions, now it is gone.... I don´t know, since 9.0, 9.1, 9.1.1.....
When I go to "Options/Mail/New mail notifications can be adjustet in system setting" and click "open" I only get the message "there are no Aps for opening of this link-type installed" (see screenshot).

So, where can I set my ChatBeep.wav as email-notification again? It worked so many versions perfectly, now it is gone!

Moreover, I use the portable version! Settings in MS-Settings would not be portable! The former solution, just to choose a *.wav file in the portable EPIM-folder would work portable!

I found this line in the EPIM.ini: PlaySound=1
SoundFile=D:\dat_prog_AS1_aktuell\Programme\lauffähig\5T_EPIM\ChatBeep.wav

But it seems, this is ignored....

This changed with one of the Win10 updates. You can change sound in the system settings now (see the screenshot).

That's a leftover from the previous versions.

1) Please make EPIM cleaning the .ini file of old (not working) entries- this is confusing.

2) I did, as you proposed- set the mail sound in Windows system, testet it (in Windows sytem) and it worked- but not in EPIM. New start of Windows, EPIM, even deleting the old .ini file, testing if EPIM is the default mail-client- yes it is- but no chatbeeb.wav. It works in my Tunderbird portable, it worked in EPIM portable too- but now ist isn´t working.

I think portable programs should be work as independent as possible from Windows-settings.

1. It is still required for Win7.
2. This will not work with the Portable version, of course as it doesn't register itself in the system. Will check if we're able to make it work in Win10 with a user selected sound file in the Portable version.

But it DOES WORK in the previous versions with the portable version!! I had a user selected sound file in EPIM, which did work- and it works in the portable version of Thunderbird too! I´m not demanding a new feature, I´m demanding a previous working feature back! Please!

Do you see new mail notifications in the Windows Action Center?

I see new mails right at the bottom of the Windows-taskbar, and after a time the New-Mail Window in EPIM is shown. But I can´t hear them.

In this case setting Notification sound as shown on the screenshot above in one of my previous posts should work. As once this sound is selected, Windows takes control over it and sounds it once there's new notification in the Action Center.

I did as you recommended, set the sound in Windows system, and there it works. In Thunderbird it works too- but there it is a real portable setting. In EPIM I can´t hear any sound.
I will have to test it on another system.
