A little flaw: opening a record takes 3+ seconds
Hi,
EPIM 9.2, the problem (again) appeared with some 9.x upgrade. Win 8.1 x64.
Short story:
I have active links in the titles of Calendar appointments, links to Contact records (to call someone and so on).
So in the Calendar I simply click the title (which is a link to an item=record) to open it, and to call.
Now it takes around 3 seconds, since the click to opening the record. It's enormously long.
Long story:
since 4.x or 5.x EPIM, when we started using it, opening a record like above was performing in a blink of an eye. Maybe 0.5 sec. The database is pretty much the same size, now and then. With next upgrades, sometimes this opening time was a bit longer, sometimes very much longer. During the years it never came back to the speed of our initial adventure with EPIM. And now the slowdown is again happening. It's not the OS, hardware or DB size, as this has not been changing. The only changing factor is EPIM, upgrades.
Would be great if it could work as fast as in the beginning.

Will you experience the same delay with a new and empty database?

@admin, with one record copied from old DB: it is faster, takes appr. 1 sec.
Technically, opening one record should not depend on the size of DB. Maybe it is something with the fact that it is old DB updated to many newer versions.

Re: A little flaw: opening a record takes 3+ seconds
I'm just trying to understand what could be the cause of such a behavior. Could it be network, could it be the amount of data stored in the database, etc. If there's no issue with the new DB, please mention the number of appointments and contacts stored in your main database. Thanks.

Thank you! The numbers are ok and shouldn't cause any delays. Did you try to sync the DB file into the new one?

No. So I should create a new one, and then use syncing tool?

Re: A little flaw: opening a record takes 3+ seconds
Hello, I did. It works faster by 1 sec., ie. now it takes ca 2+ seconds.
Plus, the new (synced into) db has 975 appointments. No idea why. So I still work on the old one.

Re: A little flaw: opening a record takes 3+ seconds
@ Admin, I have just noticed that a few weeks ago I did it, as you recommended, with another DB, ie. I synced into a new one.
So this DB2 is kind of a new one, opened in 9.0, 9.2 only.
And it also opens records quite slowly.

Re: A little flaw: opening a record takes 3+ seconds
I think we need to have a look at your database. You can make a copy of it, delete all the important data and leave just a number of items in it. Then optimize the database, exit, start EPIM again and check if the problem is still there. If it is, archive the file it and forward to me. Thanks!

OK, do you have a hint how to do this fast?
Having 2K contacts would take hours to manually remove import. data - names, emails, phones.

You can delete whole contact entries, the actual number of entries shouldn't influence anything here.

Sorry, still do not understand that.
How can I bulk delete entries, saving the number of the entries?
