Firebird or SQLite

I'm not a developer, so can't tell advantages of disadvantages of components. But I do wonder why FirebirdSQL is used and not SQLite. SQLite is a lot more popular (as far I can tell). Which means it's probably also more optimized (faster). Yes, core component. So replacing the engine kind of time consuming. And no FireBird isnt bad
