Re: Problem with position of new notes in 9.7
Started out with a new blank database and all entries in manually. Positioning of the entries is still wacky. Lets see if the fix you are planning on the icon toggle clears anything up and take it from there.

Re: Problem with position of new notes in 9.7
Disregard that last video. The sort was still set to "name" order. Sorry about that.
I DID run the sync program to populate a new database after I made the above video. So far it is working correctly. I'll let you know one way or the other after I get to play with it for awhile. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem and thanks for the update. BTW if you redownload and reinstall the latest 9.9.6 version that issue regarding notes changing their order after switching online/offline should be gone.

Re: Problem with position of new notes in 9.7
I have downloaded the latest version 9.9.6 and have synched my Database to a new database. Unfortunately the problems still exists. I am attaching a database and some test scripts and demo videos to describe how to duplicate the problem.
The first thing to do is create a new clean database to work with, and then copy and paste the "Test" note from my uploaded database to it in order to run the tests. That way you can delete the note after each set of tests and paste a fresh copy in to do the next test.
When notes are positioning correctly, a newly inserted sibling note should appear directly after the previous note. Here is a description for each of the tests you can run, along with videos to show the results I got when I ran these steps:
Test 1 - Correct behavior
Insert Note 1 after Get Mower Fixed
Insert Note 2 after Note 1
Insert Note 3 after Kickstand note
Insert Empty note after Note 3
Insert Note 4 after note 3 (before empty note)
The final result is correct
Test 2 - Adding additional root note causes errors
Add to Root - New Root note
Proceed with insertions from test 1. All inserts behave incorrectly.
Remove New Root Note - Last entered note jumps to correct position. Notes now position correctly again.
Test 3 - Icon toggle
This test shows that even though test 1 appears to behave correctly, the Icon toggle still changes the position of the last note inserted:
With clean copy of test note:
Insert Note 1 after Get Mower Fixed
Toggle Icon - Position changes
Test 4 - Another way to trigger bad behavior, Delete a note
Insert Note 1 after Get Mower Fixed
Insert Note 2 after Note 1
Delete a note
Last note entered changes position

Re: Problem with position of new notes in 9.7
There is a note with an empty name on Test 2, Test 3 and Test 4 videos. This isn't allowed anymore.

Unable to reproduce once the empty note is deleted and a new one is created in order to substitute it.

Re: Problem with position of new notes in 9.7
Well I followed all your suggestions, tried your workarounds, spent a lot of time on those test scripts and I guess I've done everything I can do to try to help you duplicate the problem. Did you go back and try all my other scenarios, using periods instead of spaces since we were trying to figure out why I was seeing the same behavior with periods and commas?

Re: Problem with position of new notes in 9.7
Sure we did, although there wasn't much point in doing that as from the app's perspective it doesn't matter whether we use a dot or a dash or some letter as these are all symbols. The initial problem was specifically related to having an empty note and it was eliminated. Not us, nor other users are having similar problem as you can see by the lack of comments in this topic.

Re: Problem with position of new notes in 9.7
Ok, that's occurred to me that no one else seems to have the problem. Thank you for trying the scripts. If you still didn't see the problem, I am out of ideas as well. Obviously as you can see there is something going on with my setup and it is not limited to blank notes, but I agree, we both have tried everything at this point. Thanks for your attention to my concern.

Re: Problem with position of new notes in 9.7
Thank you for your understanding, todd. Will keep this issue in mind when working on the notes module. If something is found in the code that could potentially be related to the issue, will make necessary adjustments.
