Bigger the network database the slower the Ctrl+F search

Post by Rose Ford »

For network databases for some reason the size of the database is causing issues with the selected leaf only ctrl+f search.

I've attached two video one where I'm doing the search on a local database and one on a connected sever database.

Since this is only searching the current selected leaf and nothing should even be being pulled from the server.

The issue seems to be directly related to the database size.

If I take a brand new database the network database select leaf only search is just as fast as the local. However as soon as I sync, import, or copy/past my old database content.
1,600 notes apx 3million words and 43MB is size.

Overall a pretty small database worth of content.

the search becomes as slow, laggy and buggy as in the attached video.

I have tired copy/past, EPIM syncronizer, EPIM server sync, and bulk export as .txt then bulk import as .txt files to rule the notes themselves as being the issue, so it is only the size of the database.

My wager is that for some reason EPIM is refreshing the entire database on each search even though it's only the current leaf or something of the likes.

Using 9.10.7
logged in as sysdba
both client and sever are using windows 10 pro 64-bit and are high speced systems.
The local LAN is 100% wired and very fast, low lat, and stable.

The situation with search in notes should be better on EPIM 10.x series, although will check it with the network databases, as well. Thanks.
