Finding hidden private items.

Post by VictorParkerPIM »

When I do a search for a note and I know it's there, but search finds nothing.
It's a private note and hidden from view, shouldn't a pasword field pop up like it does when I click " show private items "?

Which of the search options do you use? Is that an advanced search?

The upper right search field shows nothing.

The advanced search shows this.

Why couldn't it find the item but not show it and present a Password Field?

So far this by design. Will see if this can be improved. Thanks.

I don't think private hidden notes should be searchable a large part of their appeal is that they are hard to find.

It's already easy enough to hit the hotkey to un-hide private items and then search works fine with them.

100% agree with Rose Ford hidden private items not be searchable.

It would be very annoying to be asked for passwords every time a search hit a hidden note.

Why shouldn't the search not find the Item, just not show it until the password is inserted?
You might not remember the Item is hidden and think it's not there.

Definitely don't want hidden items searchable. Whole point of having them hidden is to make them hard to impossible to find.

If you're using hidden items then why wouldn't you try un-hiding them if you couldn't find it with a normal search?

Standardization?

Windows for example doesn't show you hidden items in search if you don't show them via a toggle switch first.

I'd say the standard expectation of hidden files are that you want them hidden unless you explicitly show them through some sort of toggle.
