Near infinite backups

Post by Rose Ford »

If anyone is worried about backup size get to know ZPAQ.

It's been awhile since it was brought up here and I really wished the devs world just make it a part of EPIM, but since they haven't I figured I'd make a post so people can find out about it.

I have 500GB, yes, 500GB of EPIM backups in a 9GB of Zpaq files.

My personal note database is 305MB, it's Zpaq backup file is 930MB and it's holding 8 years (86GB) of database backups.

The best compression program to view/extract data from Zpaq files is Bandizip, Zpaq itself is a free command line tool that you can setup with windows task scheduler to autobackup your database using a bat file.

It's a tad complicated to setup for the non tech savvy, which is why it would be really nice if it was simply a built in feature to backup to ZPAQ from within EPIM.

it is Licensed under MIT / Public domain

Which means it is free to use in commercial products.

This is really exciting news, I now have close to 10g size of data and running essential pim on my laptop is very laggy, basically a lot of data is just as backup.
This is really difficult for newbies, wish there was a more detailed tutorial
