Please let us define our own calendar notification sound
The default sound (tada.wav) is from Windows 3.1 and very annoying. Because it gets reset to default after every upgrade, I wrote a batch file that copies my preferred sound file over that file, but it requires admin right (which isn't ideal). Please add an option for a user-defined notification sound that is preserved across upgrades.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You can choose your sound file by clicking on the Browse button when visiting the advanced reminder settings.

Re: Please let us define our own calendar notification sound
Where is this setting? I've looked all through Options and every menu. Note, I'm talking about the calendar (event) notifications, not mail. I have mail notifications turned off at the system.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Please let us define our own calendar notification sound
There is no general setting in options/settings.
You can specify the notification as mentioned by Admin in the calendar events, by clicking on the "wheel" (browse) button behind the reminders.
After clicking on the button you get a pop-up window where you can select options (also sounds) for the notification.
These can be set per event.

Re: Please let us define our own calendar notification sound
Will that setting be the default going forward? Can I bulk-change existing events?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The advanced reminder settings will be remembered for future events. However, there is no way to change the settings in bulk for existing events.

Re: Please let us define our own calendar notification sound
An additional thought, do you mean that you overwrite the DefaultSound.wav file with your own preferred soundfile?
If yes, maybe it helps to change the attributes of that own DefaultSound.wav soundfile.
You can change the file attributes to read-only then it should not be overwritten when EPIM updates are released.

Re: Please let us define our own calendar notification sound
Yes, and I tried that but it still got overwritten. The installer service runs as Admin in order to write into any place under "Program Files", so setting DOS-era attributes won't help. I seriously doubt even changing the NTFS permissions would help, plus I don't want to interfere with updates.
Thanks.
