Could you first please explain by example what you want to have and why?
Everything I mention comes out of my experience. I'm not an expert. Feel free to try anything I suggest ... but always at your own risk.

Tasks are not appointments. Not following you.

You can misuse modules for different purposes. I use tasks not at all, and appointments for my are just a NOTE to a single date.
EPIM is flexible! ;-)

not flexible / customizable enough, like i mentioned in my last threads.
no idea why not put floating in appointments too, as the user should decide how he uses it, like you do!
i don't want to do olympic tricks, if i have a pending appointment depending on sth., i want just to do it so, and don't go over tasks. i try to use it my way and don't be pushed in other way. it would make sense to show this appointments, at least as user choosed/activated, at the top of epimtoday appointments!
it's still quite much to do.
i hope we get the smaller ones quick.

A task is something that needs to occur with no set time. Sure you can set reminders so you can work on a task. An appointment must be done on a certain date and time.

my conclusion is that i need floating appointments and a area with such and/or pined appointments and maybe tasks.
i have dependencies appointment to keep in view on top of the epimtoday appointments like you have allday tasks in one day calendar view.
