Delete messages from server
If I use the archiver / duplicate remover tool to create an archive of old emails, will they be removed from my database and then also from the cloud server via IMAP?
I'm guessing all I need to do is make sure full synchronization is on, so I have the complete message locally. Since I'd been only synching headers on old emails, is there a way to check that synchronization is complete first?

What would be the reason for doing that?Steve Shank wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 3:08 amI'm guessing all I need to do is make sure full synchronization is on, so I have the complete message locally. BTW there's also an archive feature in the mail module, which you could use instead, for instance.

Re: Delete messages from server
My reason for syncing all, was to be sure I have the entire email if I move them to a folder of old emails. I'd assumed if I was merely syncing headers and I moved the email, I'd only be moving the header.
My problem with your archive, which seems to come close to what I want, is that it doesn't preserve my folder structure. I am archiving my inbox after 90 days, but not my sent, or many other folders. MY archives separate business from personal, and sent from received. Can I make folders under YOUR archive folder and then manually move emails into those folders and have them removed from the IMAP server?

In this case all the missing message contents would have been downloaded automatically.Steve Shank wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 9:19 pm My reason for syncing all, was to be sure I have the entire email if I move them to a folder of old emails. Yes, you can do that, although I'm not sure how convenient it would be to move emails manually from one folder to another time to time.Steve Shank wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 9:19 pmMy problem with your archive, which seems to come close to what I want, is that it doesn't preserve my folder structure. Re: Delete messages from server
This is very good. Glad to know that the full message is automatically preserved even if there was only a header downloaded.
You might be right that my moving stuff to Archive perhaps annually, could be a waste of time. I think I'm trying to emulate Thunderbird's local folders. I would move stuff into it. My backups could hold only them.
I'll just do it now and quit messing around. However, will make a post asking for a feature to be able to choose a folder or folders to archive with the archive tool. That way I could keep sent and received for only a short time, while keeping client receipts or contractor reports for a longer time in the primary database.

Please note that if you manually move messages with only headers downloaded into another folder, the message content will not be automatically downloaded.
