No 1x1 sync widget on Android 11/12

Post by lk »

Hi there,

on two of my three Android devices (Android 8 and 9) I can add a 1x1 widget to the home screen. Pressing on it syncs EPIM for Android data immediately with my PC installation. It's this one:

On the Android home screen it looks like this:

However, on my newer Android 12 device, this widget doesn't appear anymore in the list of installable widgets for EPIM. This was also the case when this phone ran under Android 11. Is there a reason for this? Does anyone else use these widgets and can confirm?

(EPIM for Android 6.0.5, but also earlier versions.)

We cannot confirm this with the devices running Android 11/12 we have in our possession. Please mention your device make and model, I'm starting to think all these issues you're having are somehow related to the specific OS build by a specific manufacturer.

Hello there,

it's a Realme 8 Pro (8 GB RAM). When I bought it last year, Android 11 was pre-installed and already at that time the PC sync widget wasn't available. This hasn't changed when the update to Android 12 came in some weeks ago.

Some other EPIM widgets, however, are selectable on this phone. Now I compared the widget list of this phone with the ones on my other devices and found out that all six 1x1 widgets are missing! The other six widgets (with bigger default sizes and resizable) are listed and selectable. Maybe a hint?

Some days ago the update to Android 13 came in, but the problem remains the same: The 1x1 widgets are still not visible (and thus selectable).

(Am I the only one having this problem on newer Android versions?)

Same thing on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 with Android 14.
Only the "add" widgets are available, the individual buttons are missing.

The individual buttons are shortcuts. It seems that we need to convert them into widgets so that they are accessible on all supported Android versions and devices.

As it has been said in this forum-group already ... a clear and reliable feedback will not be given, as AEPIM development seems to have stopped
Everything I mention comes out of my experience. I'm not an expert. Feel free to try anything I suggest ... but always at your own risk.

We understand why it may seem that AEPIM development has stopped but the situation is a bit different. At the moment the project is on pause, as we're reviewing several possible directions for its future.

AEPIM is still on our radar and we're actively considering what the best next steps could be. We're monitoring your feedback and changes in the Android ecosystem and this will help us decide how to move forward.

We'll share more information as soon as we have something concrete.

Thank you for your patience and continued interest!

Hallo,

unfortunately, as always, the feedback is devoid of content.

A year ago, there was already a similar feedback:

viewtopic.php?p=137301#p137301

So every year the same thing in the hope that no more users will say goodbye (viewtopic.php?t=40125).
