3.54 locks up!

Post by MrBill »

I saw that 3.54 was available for download, so I grabbed it and installed it. Starting the program brings it up full screen, then here's what I did"

- Minimized EPIM to the TaskBar using the 'X' button.
- Maximized it.
- Minimized it to the TaskBar again using the 'X' button.
- Maximized it again.

It locked up, with the following error showing:

Image

I was unable to minimize or close it, so I used Task Manager to end the application. Interestingly enough, Task Manager said it was running but Task Manager Processes said only 1% - 2% of my processor was in use, so I'm not sure if EPIM was in a processing loop or not. Note though that my PC is a new Dell with Windows7 (x64) and a fast processor! When I closed the program, Task Manager said that EPIM was waiting for a response from me, although I had clicked all over the error window and nothing happened.

If I can help more, please let me know.

Thanks, Bill

Is it one-off error? Or do you meed this every time you start EPIM?
Let's see if there are other complaints like this.

Same problem here if you check "minimise to tray when closing" in options. Otherwise, the problem does not occur.

We reproduced the problem with AV if Minimize on close and minimize to system tray is enabled on 64 bit system. Working on a fix.
But could not reproduce Vic's problem (or, rather, it is incorrectly described).

Hi,

we have made a silent update to fix it. If you download using links below, it should work fine:
Desktop Pro:
http://www.essentialpim.com/download/es ... impro3.exe
Portable Pro:
http://www.essentialpim.com/download/es ... oport3.zip

The fixed 3.54 is working fine on my PC Max, thanks!

BTW - two EPIM versions ago I made a suggestion:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9130

Not having the capability to print these notes, or any note that is taken full screen is causing me many problems. I am a retired mainframe programmer and now a Visual Basic 9 programmer, and as such I think that adding various print icons to the note's tool bar would do the trick, but not having dug into your code I could be wrong. Is there any chance that you will add this capability soon?

Thanks, Bill

I have the same problem as MrBill. But I use the free version. Is there going to be an update for the free version?

I just checked. Free version works fine. Can you make a video using http://www.jingproject.com/ or any other service?

Hello Max

At this moment, I don't have the time to make a video (I'm sorry). But when I start EssentialPim there isn't a problem. When I minimize EssentialPim and then maximse EssentialPim again, it still works. But when I close EssentialPim (by pressing the X-button), EssentialPim doesn't work anymore. "Minimise on startup" is clicked on.

I use Windows 7 and have a 64-bit version.

Thanks
Nito

At least a screenshot of your Tools-> Options-> General might help.

Hey

Same problem when i close to tray i hear "beeps" in the background and those empty popups (by OP) come up.

After downloading the silent fix it works fine.

Cheers :)
