Re: Birthday (Category) Events disappearing

All my contact/calendar info is kept on Epim and then synced to Google. I never update/add calendar events via my Android phone or the Google calendar. I occasionally will add/edit contact info (name or phone number only) from my phone. It does not happen with every sync, but occasionally, after I sync w/Google, most if not all of my Birthday and Anniversary entries disappear from Epim. It has become so commonplace that I never ever sync without making a backup first so that I can restore what ever gets lost. I haven't checked the last couple times, but it was limited to only my 20111 entries at one point. Next time it happens I will check future years to see if they are being affected. After most syncs with Google, I have to run the Dupe remover because it creates duplicate entries for some events, mostly the birthdays and anniversaries, but even that is inconsistent. And not all the duplicate entries are visible in the calendar, but the dupe remover sees them in the database. I read another post in the forum, don't remember what subject it was under, where entries deleted in Epim don't get deleted from Google after sync, and then reappear in Epim as a result. I have also experienced this issue. I assume this is all related to the Google sync since that seems to be the trigger. Any help would be most appreciated.

Running Epim Pro 4.02 on Windows 7 Home Premium V 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) w/all recent updates applied.

I would suggest the following plan. We will release 4.2 Public Release Candidate where synchronization with Google is significantly improved. My guess is that your troubles will end then. If not, we would investigate further.

Sounds like a plan Max, I'll let you know how it goes. Is there a release date yet?

Just to follow up on this, I noticed today that when syncing with Google, appts. deleted/changed in EPIM do not get deleted/changed in Google. The new appt is added to Google but the old one was not deleted. I just got the notice about the new RC version for public use, and plan to download, install and try sometime this week. Will let you know how that turns out.

Max,
I downloaded and installed 4.2 RC 1 this weekend and have been trying it out, and so far it appears to have fixed this problem. Google sync is much better than previously experienced. The first sync acted the same as previously, bringing over duplicate entries, deleting some events etc., so I cleared sync data, deleted all calendars in Google and started fresh with a sync to Google. All entries transferred correctly, and all the calendars in Google even had the correct time zone, a first time event for me when syncing with Google. I will continue to monitor and let you know if any problems/inconsistencies occur.

Thank you for continuing to develop and improve Epim.
