Some simple Requests for EPIM Tasks on Android
Dear EPIM-Team,
at the moment I am testing EssentialPIM for PC together with the EPIM app for Android.
I must say that I'm quite pleased with the concept and the functionality so far. Congratulations.
Since I am a very big GTD fan who uses his smartphone very intensively I'd like to request some features for the app.
These are (in my opion) "essential" for the "tasks" part:
1. [BUG]: Function "Manage lists /Add list..." causes the process "com.astonsoft.android.essentialpim" to crash when pressing "OK" after having entered a title for the list.
I can reproduce this on my HTC Desire Z running on Android 2.3.3
2. [FEATURE]: Change the colors of the list tabs. The title of the selected tab is not readable, since the letters are grey and the tab background is as well. So if it's to much effort to implement a color configuration dialog, please change the colors of the selected list tab to a readable combination (e.g. letters black, background grey).
3.[FEATURE]: Please add German language for the app
4.[FEATURE]: There is no "flat list" of tasks. The user always has to step into a list in order to see which tasks are due or upcoming.
[Suggestion]: Add a "All tasks" list tab that displays all tasks in one list. This must go together with at least two additional options:
a. sort list by start date / due date (already implemented)
b. filter options ("due today", "due within the next 7 days", "overdue") that can be used in combination
5. [FEATURE]: Option to sort the tasks manually by dragging them into position. At this time tasks can only be sorted automatically by date or priority.
[Suggestion]: Add an option "manually" to the menu "Sort tasks by". If this option is chosen by the user he should be able to drag tasks in his favorite order. This order should be memorized by the app, so that the user can come back to this special order after having switched to "sort by due date" temporarily.
6. [FEATURE]: "Projects". A very big wish of mine (as a GTD fand) would be the possibility of having a "project" parameter for tasks, notes, appointments and even emails.
Of course, this feature would concern the mobile app as well as the PC software. It has to be nothing special. Just a list of project names that can be assigned to a task or a note like a category.
Since this is a more complicated issue, I would rather tend to open a separate thread for this. But please bear in mind this request. Thanks.
Thanks for your patience and for a quick reply and rating of my requests.
Best Regards,
Torsten

Thanks for your quick reply.
I'm happy to help and looking forward to see these features implemented.
There are several languages but not "German".
I'm using V 1.4 of the Android app.
Best Regards,
Torsten

Re: Some simple Requests for EPIM Tasks on Android
I see number 5 already in the plan for implementation. Excellent ! I would think the easiest way for the user to do this, would be :
"long press the target ToDo" ->
"ToDo enters drag mode" ->
"user manually drags target ToDo into target location" ->
"user lets go of target ToDo" ->
"target ToDo is automatically re-positioned in the hierarchy"
Cheers
