Notes sync with Google fails

Post by martin_t »

I've been syncing EPIM with google for years but now I need to sync notes. However, I always get the error HTTP/1.1 403 forbidden.

I can access my google docs in all ways I know possible. System Win 8.1 (though I've previously had this problem with win 8 and 7 on different machines). EPIM Pro 5.57 (and previous versions). Log available.

Make sure you are not using 2 factor authentification on Google (or if you are using, use disposable passwords Google gives).
Try re-creating Google Sync in EPIM.

Thanks for the rapid response :-)

Not using 2 factor.

Re-done sync setup - no change :-(

If you re-create Google sync and it says HTTP/1.1 403 forbidden - it means something is wrong either in your Google setup, or your password.

My password must be correct or the calendar, todo and contacts wouldn't sync. I can setup epim to sync to a different google account without any issues.

So what could be special about the account I'm having a problem with? I've even completely emptied my google drive just in case...

The only option I see left is you give us access to your Google Drive to try to reproduce the problem.

Would that be access to the folder the relevant files are in or access to my google account? (I suppose it's the latter).

The whole account, in this case.

Well, no matter how trustworthy you may be I'm afraid I'm not going to give anyone access to my google account - I'm sure there's more about me in there than I know about myself and no one is having access to that apart from me (and the NSA & GCHQ).

So unfortunately I suppose I'll have to live with the lack of functionality :-(

Hi martin_t, I got the same problem as yours, and I solve my problem using the following steps.

1. Log in to google
2. Goto https://drive.google.com/
3. Click: More (on the left side menu), additional menu item will appear (All Item)
4. Click: All Item (on the left side, the one appear after you click More)
5. Delete all un-necessary item on your drive.

I've sucessfully sync back my notes (previousely it always fail, althou I can sync appointments and contacts) after deleting all items in steps-5.

Note: Backup your all your Notes from google, just in case you accidentally delete them.

Looks like essential PIM can;t sync to google drive due to several item that's NOT note (in my case: movie, MP3, etc) which is not my document and I don;t know how it appear in my google drive. These invalid item is not visible when I click My Drive (on left side menu), but it appears on All Items menu.

Hope it helps.
