Returning to EPIM after 4 years, old .epim still ok?
For years, I was an EPIM Pro user with the portable version and my Palm Treo and Centro but had to abandon it when I switched from Palm Centro to the WebOS Pixi. Finally got a "current" Android phone and discovered EPIM Android app! Hoping to reinstall my Notes from the old database. Is it okay for me to use the .epim database from version 4.0 with the current version?
Thank you and it's good to be back!

Welcome! It is nice to see users coming back.
Yes, database transformation from version 4.x should work. But please, make a copy of the file before opening it in 6.06 version (EPIM does make automatic backups, but there is never too many backups)

Re: Returning to EPIM after 4 years, old .epim still ok?
I went on the forum to research use old vs start new database and LOL, i see my own post from almost 5 years ago. I moved over to paper planning for a while but need a more robust search capability so I am back with EPIM. Is the answer still the same --- that I can use the old .epim? I have a lot of recurrent tasks that have changed over the years so I will need to edit some of the tasks. I didn't know if it's better to restart with a new .epim or if I should use the old one and edit as needed. Is there any concern about bad links etc? Thank you!

I've found that if you are coming from before version 7 it is better to use EPIM Synchronizer and move the content of the old .epim files to a new database that way instead.
Even though EPIM seems to have have no upfront issues opening and converting old databases strange bugs can crop up and cause bizarre issues later that are virtually impossible to troubleshoot.

We strive to make EPIM able to open older databases. However, indeed, just in case, please make a copy of your old database before opening in EPIM. If there are issues, trying EPIM Synchronizer as suggested above can be worthwhile.
