My EssentialPIM / EPIM Synchronizer / HotSync version:
My EssentialPIM edition: EssentialPIM Pro
Is it possible to configure EssentialPIM Pro to process "open" or "open with" event on .ICS files.
So when I double click on .ICS file in Windows Explorer or launch it another way, EssentialPIM should process it and import calendar information.
If I try to open an .ICS file, EssentialPIM tries to open it as a PIM database.
Is there a command line switch so I could pass an .ICS file to EssentialPIM ?
Best regards

I have the same problem as the OP.
I am sent ics files by the company I work for for forthcoming diary dates and am looking for a program that will open apart from Outlook. I am using the free version at the moment but would upgrade to the Pro version if it would then accept them. I have d/l the latest version of EPIM and it will not import the file giving the message
"meeting.ics is not a valid database"
I have setup EPIM with a new calendar but makes no difference.
Could you let me know please if this is possible or not.
Regards
David

I did try that after in a new calendar and it did not recognise it.Max wrote:EPIM does not "open" ics files, it imports them. Opening means just showing data, but EPIM can not show it without importing it to some database.
So what you want is currently not possible.
I know from a colleague that it works with Outlook so guess EPIM cannot handle this.
I should mention that it is being sent from Outlook.
ThanksMax wrote:What namely you tried? Importing ics to EPIM? How did you do that?
It should work, especially with Outlook ics files.
Apologies - it is now working - must have done something wrong.
It is however an involved process. They all come in with the same file name - namely "meeting.ics". This then has to be saved under another name from the email. Then imported into EPIM and clicking through the screens. Will it be possilbe for EPIM to recognise it from the double click and import it that way?
Regards
David

Re: .ics - Open with ...
so what's the current situation on opening ICS?
still no import upon doubleclick???
come on, don't give me the import routine explanation.
EPIM should recognise the files and import them straight from the attachment.
you cannot really expect people to go saving their ics to a folder and then navigating there by hand.
and don'tr explain to me, I could always save to desktop and always import from there ...
it is a waste of time where the program should aid me in sorting myself and my business.

Userfriend, do these .ics arrive by email into EPIM? If yes, you can import them by doubleclick on attachment.

I indeed used to save these .ics files and then imported them in EPIM. I now tried to doubleclick on an attachment in an email with an appointment, but I get the error message "Transaction is not active". What could go wrong here?

Hello,
we need more information: which version you are using, and several screenshots, demonstrating the problem. We can then try to reproduce the issue.

Some days ago I sent an email to errors@essetialpim.nl including the error log and information about which version I use (EssentialPIM Pro 7.51 5-6-2017). I hope this provides enough information. If not, please let me know.

Your error report will be processed, but answer is not guaranteed. If you need a reply here in the forum, post information here.AJan wrote: Fri Jun 23, 2017 11:14 am Some days ago I sent an email to errors@essetialpim.nl including the error log and information about which version I use (EssentialPIM Pro 7.51 5-6-2017).
