Notes -- table copy operations

Post by testerh »

EssentialPIM copy/paste operations on tables don't seem to operate as expected.

Scenario: copy cells of a row in an existing table to cells of another row in the same table
Steps to reproduce:
1. In Notes, create a default 3x3 table. I'll call the columns a, b, and c, resp., and the rows 1, 2, and 3, resp.
2. Enter some data in cells a1 and b1.
3. Select cells a1 and b1, then hit Ctrl-C.
3. Select cells a2 and b2 as targets (they are empty), and hit Ctrl-V.
Nothing happens.
4. Select just a2 as target and hit Ctrl-V.
a1 and b1 will now be copied to a2 as a sub-table, dividing a2 into two columns.

If in Step 2 above, you fill cells c1 and c2 with data and try to copy them into cells a1 and a2, nothing happens.
Copying just to a2 will copy c1 and c2 into a2, dividing it into a 2-row sub-table.

Copying cells from one table into another table yields similar results.

Request / Expected behavior:
- If the source cells are pasted into the same number and kind (row/column) of target cells, paste the contents of the source cells into the target cells (without creating a sub-table). Request overwrite confirmation if any target cells are not empty.
- If the number of source cells is different from the number of target cells, do nothing and warn the user (one possibility).
