Just installed the above update, no better for me, took about 15 seconds for the preview to appear on my Gmail account
A bit strange, for several weeks the problem seemed to have been cured but it returned several days ago, possibly after the last normal update

That sounds like it might be related to how your email is syncing. If you've set it to only download headers first, then downloading the full message depends on your email provider and your internet connection. To check the sync settings for a folder, just click the Manage Folders button on the toolbar.
