Can we block spam threads/posts from this site?

Threads about drugs and card games have their place on the net but on this specialist forum are spam. Can they be removed please?

We remove spam within hours. The best you can do is ignore them and do not post reply to these topics.

Max, the problem is that I get mails for many threads with new posts. So tomorrow I had about 10 mails - all with spam-posts to threads.

Yes, I understand, but there is nothing to do. These are manual spam, very difficult to prevent at all by computer.I am removing spam messages post-factum.

As administrator from another board I have to agree that these kind of posts are difficult to prevent, since they are from people with the goal to post spam. The "robots" are blocked, but people with changing IP-addresses, e-mail and names, unfortunately they are difficult to stop.

Because of this reason we (on our board) decided to go for another option and that works, BUT than someone has to do manual work. We changed the board post settings and now every FIRST post of a member has to be authorised.
Now spammers can't post anymore, because we delete them. Users of the board are not getting mail messages from posts to threads and these posts are not visible for the users anymore.

Maybe that is an idea for this board too ?

I take your point Max and will ignore them. Perhaps new users should be prevented from starting a new thread until they have 2, 5, 10 posts etc; but that they have at least made one post in an existing thread that was not spam before being allowed to start a new thread? Thanks.

hannibal_barca_1974 what you describe is the same I know from 2 other boards. I think this could also help in this forum.
