Interlinking and Database Size

Hi everyone. As a new user of EssentialPIM Pro I am wondering how large I can expect to go without sacrificing speed and efficiency. I selected this application because I was looking for a simple desktop solution minus all the "extras" you find with so many other CRMs these days. Yes, I know this is technically a PIM and not a CRM, but I have devised a simple interlinking approach between Contacts, Tasks, Notes and Emails that delivers the CRM functionality I need. I love being able to keep things focused and clean.

I can see my Contacts list growing quickly to 10,000+ records, while the Tasks, Notes and Emails will likely get up to 25,000 or 30,000+. I have read a number of comments on this forum about how large you can go with EPIM and I find them encouraging. I've also read elsewhere that Firebird typically has no trouble scaling into the multi-TB range, so that's good news as well.

I guess I am just looking for reassurances that interlinking via the GUI will scale well. I assume there is a table or view under the hood that tracks manually interlinked records, but what do I know? Is there any risk that this approach will affect latency as the database gets larger? I'd be interested to hear others' comments about how large they are getting with their databases and whether interlinking creates any problems at scale. Thank you.

Hi CHB!
My database is approx. 400MB, I have 10 000+ emails (POP3)- no problems so far. There is some interlinking, but not far as much as you, and quite few contacts. As far as I know, the only limitation is computer hardware (RAM, speed....).

With as many contacts you have, I would think, you use EPIM for business. And for business version I would simply expect to handle this many information without any troubles.

Hello,

we have seen 1-2GB databases in actual use. It really depends on your disk, if that's SSD,- database can be multiple gigabytes without any sacrifice in speed.

Thanks for your replies, Max & a8907433. I appreciate your input. Yes, I am using the application for business. And yes, the database runs on an SSD. It's good to hear your expressions of confidence. I will proceed accordingly. Thanks again and have a great week.
