Hi, my name is Vincenzo and I am writing to you from Italy. I have been using the Pro version for a few years on both PC and Android. Reading the features of the Pro version on your site I read that it is possible to automatically type passwords in Web forms with a single click, that is that you could use Essentialpim as if it were a password manager. I tried to search the Help and FAQ but I could not understand how it is done. Can you help me?
Thank you.
Vincenzo

Re: Password manager
That's the "Auto Type" button located on the toolbar in the passwords module.

Re: Password manager
Dear admin, how does it work?
For years I could not figure it out.
Currently, if I click auto type, it just uses the active tab to use it and fill in.

Re: Password manager
If there's a browser window with login form opened in the background, click on the Auto Type button should bring that browser window foreground with filled in login and password fields.

Re: Password manager
@admin Thank you.
Just the idea:
there is a field URL in a Password record.
What if Auto Type button would work that way:
in the URL one puts the link to the forementioned website with the login form,
once one clicks Auto Type, it immediately opens a chart/new tab in a browser with the given website.

Re: Password manager
...or better yet, some default options for Auto Type somewhere in the setting and individual settings that can change them for each password entry separately (to check-uncheck opening the URL, typing login and the keys between/after).
I saw websites that expect not the default
<your login><Tab><your password><Enter>
but
<your login><Enter><your password><Enter>
They first open a page for the login name, have a button under it to continue, than open a new page for the password. So to autotype, it should be <your login><Enter><waiting several secs for the new page to load><your password><Enter>
Also, sometimes there is just the password (i.e. an achieve file). I don't fill-in the login field in the password entry in EPIM and put the cursor not into the password field but above (correction: I put it into the field and hit Shit+Tab before switching to EPIM) so the TAB will put the cursor there. It'll be much more convenient to uncheck login and the <Tab> for such cases and have EPIM type <password><Enter>

Re: Password manager
Trinitylab, Keldi these are both nice suggestions, thanks, will add them into the to do list for implementation.

Re: Password manager
I believe configuring <Tab>, <Enter> and <waiting several secs> would be too complicated and it would not work correctly most of the time.
For example, the browser window could freeze for a while - this happens to me all the time, because I have about 25 opened windows and 500+ tabs.
And this could become even a security problem - if a password is typed in in the wrong window or field.
Browser addon would be much easier. Especially since there is EPIM Cloud.
Currently I use LastPass for web passwords.
EssentialPIM is comfortable for offline passwords only.
