to whom it may concern,
as far as I can see, when exporting mails from a folder to separate *.eml - files, the names of these file are build like
[date(yyyy_mm_dd_hh_mm)]+[subject].eml .
In some version of thunderbird -- or some add-on available there - I found an option to configure these names, like
[recipient]+[subject].eml or
[subject]+[recipient].eml or
[author]+[subject].eml or the like
with the use of 'recipient' or 'author' adjusted for 'sent (to recipient)' resp. 'received (from author)', and
with a limitation for the components to a specified length / number of characters;
also the date (yyyy_mm_dd ...) could be included in the name
or the 'date' of the eml-file in the file system could be set to the 'receive'-date of the mail,
and, finally, some fixed text could be included, too.
Something like that - in my opinion - would be a great improvement.
And, in addition, a function to hierarchically export mail-subfolders to subdirectories (with the respective names) automatically would be an even more valuable improvement.
Could such a functionality be implemented in some future upgrade (which in fact would be worth an increase of the major version number to e.g. 11 or 12) ?
Thank You for considering & kind regards

Thanks for the suggestion. It will be implemented sooner rather than later if we see other users supporting your proposal. The more users there is, the feaster it usually gets done.
