Search appears to be broken
EPIM Pro v9.10.8
Windows 10 64bit 21H1
Search seems to be broken, or at least unwell.
Sometimes I can search for something and get the box that says "Can't find it, want to search from the beginning?". When I hit OK, it blinks and stays exactly where it is without moving to the beginning or highlighting any result.
Sometimes I will search a big note and get the box saying "Nothing found". Despite the search word definitely being in the note several times.
I have Optimised the database, but no change.
Any suggestions?

Re: Search appears to be broken
Please record a small video demonstrating the problem so that we could see what you do and how you do it and when exactly it happens. I'd also recommend you to check this with the 10.0 RC2 version and see if the problem is gone with it.

Re: Search appears to be broken
Here is a recording of me trying to search for James in a note. You can see James beneath the search dialog, but the item is not found.
Also if I search for a term in a note tree from the top not and tick the box that says "Include child notes", the search stays at the top note and never goes into the child notes. Just goes from top to bottom and then repeats.

Here is an example of the search asking repeatedly to resume from the beginning, but never going anywhere other than the start of the note.

Re: Search appears to be broken
Thank you, that's good news. I'll grab the v10 RC2 and see how that goes.

Re: Search appears to be broken
I have just tried the RC2 build and nothing has changed. Both problems recorded above are still there.

Re: Search appears to be broken
Create a new database on 10.0 RC2, copy-paste the note shown on the first video into it, make sure the search is still not working and forward us that database file. As for the second video - I'm not seeing the search terms inside the note, is it really there?

Copied the note to a new database file, search is now working.
In the second video, the search term in in a child note.

Re: Search appears to be broken
I see, in this case please sync your DB over to the new one. For the DB opened in EPIM 10.0 please use the following EPIM Synchronizer version (the one on the web site is for database files from EPIM 9.x.): https://www.essentialpim.com/download/b ... ync100.exe

Re: Search appears to be broken
I have done that. Now the search in the first video does work. But the second one where the search term exists in a child note now fails saying the search item was not found.

Re: Search appears to be broken
We'd need a database file with only that note (including a child one). You can forward it to me via PM (private message) here in the forum. Thanks.

Re: Search appears to be broken
Actually, I have checked further and searching at a top level never finds anything in a child note, despite "Include child notes" being checked. This is the case with multiple notes.
Also, if I do a search from the parent note for a term in a child note and it says not found, a subsequent search of the child note itself also fails. This is like the search in my first video.

Thanks for the database file, can confirm the problem. Will do our best to fix it for the 10.0 final release version.
