How NOT to synchronize Emails

I keep my calendar and address book on Google so I have it on my Android phone. When needed, I can access these on my laptop using a web browser, which is clunky, but works.

It would also be extremely convenient if I had my contacts and calendar visible to Essential PIM. I hardly ever use my gmail email, and most of the emails there are basically junk.

I set up synchronization with my google account, but much to my horror, thousands of those junk emails started pouring in. I looked at the synchronization setting, and see no obvious way to tell it NOT to synchronize emails...

Just go in EPIMto: Options/Account Settings/Edit (your Gmail-Account/Advanced- and uncheck "Include this account when receiving mail"
Then you shouldn´t get emails from this account anymore.

Or you can simply delete the Gmail account if you don't need it at all via Tools->Account Settings.
