regenerating tasks with due dates instead of only start dates

Post by kdgdr »

Hi,

Currently for tasks, regenerate ... after completion only uses start date of tasks. Please consider changing so that due date of new task (after completion) behaves like it does for example with repeating tasks every ... days.

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards.

Hi,

It doesn 't work like that to my experience.

This is what happens to a "task repeating every ... days":
Subject,Start time,Due time,
Repeat each month,"Sat, 01/01/2022 07:00","Sat, 01/01/2022 07:30",
Repeat each month,"Tue, 01/02/2022 07:00","Tue, 01/02/2022 07:30",
Repeat each month,"Tue, 01/03/2022 07:00","Tue, 01/03/2022 07:30",

> Due Date is 30 mins after Start date for each new task in example above, so Grouping by Due Date gives the expected result.

This is what happens to a "regenerate ... after completion task":
Subject,Start time,Due time,
Repeat 1 month after completion,"Sat, 01/01/2022 07:00","Sat, 01/01/2022 07:30",
Repeat 1 month after completion,"Tue, 16/08/2022 07:00","Wed, 07/09/2022 07:30",

> Due Date is nowhere near 30 mins after Start Date for each new task in example above, so Grouping by Due Date gives unexpected result, tasks are displayed very weird in AEPIM or WEPIM depending on the situation, Duration of new tasks is wrong, etc. ...

Hope this clarifies.
Kind regards.

Unable to reproduce this. The duration of tasks stays the same in our tests regardless of the regeneration and recurring settings.

Hi,

I tested a bit more in depth:
  • Issue as described above occurs when you complete tasks in AEPIM (tasks that are set to recur ... after completion). Of course, this incorrect data is later transferred to WEPIM after a sync between AEPIM/WEPIM over Wifi.
  • Issue does not occur when such tasks are completed in WEPIM. Just tested in WEPIM exlcusively with new test-tasks and can not reproduce myself, so you are totally right about that.
Please,
  • Check if you can reproduce in AEPIM with tasks that are set to recur ... after completion and let me know.
  • Move this topic to AEPIM forum if that 's a better place in your opinion. I guess I should have posted issue in AEPIM forum initially - sorry for that - and I don't know if/how I can move it to AEPIM forum myself now.
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards.
