Make it easier to show/hide categories

Post by khn »

It would be very convenient to be able to easily show/hide one or more categories. Right now you have to use the menu, and every time you select a category, the menu disappears and you need to go to the menu again to select another category. This makes very inconvenient if you want to select a number of categories to view.

It would be nice to have a list of check boxes that you can easily select/unselect as needed to filter what you can see on the screen.

Thanks.

This is not a new suggestion, however the problem is how to display such setting nicely in the UI without adding a bunch of new controls.

An alternative to filtering categories in To-Do List

Post by Janly62 »

There's one software that I used before that has a drop-down list of the Categories list. The program will show only the to-do's from the category I selected.

Here's a pic of what I mean. It would be greatly useful as my list of recurring to-do's keeps growing.

Thanks........Alex

Alex, I am not sure if you know that in Pro version you can use View-> Show Categories menu to filter.

Hello,

I'm agree with khn, it would be so great, if it is possible for exemple, to create our own "filters" (our favorite categories we check) and possibility to create many "filters" and why not access to our list of filters, on the left menu in schedule view, in the "action" menu, and select the filter of our choice in one clic ?
Sorry, my english is very very poor, I'm french and wasn't a good pupil at school when I was young :-(
thanks for informations, and excuse me to ask you that, but, could you please, write your answer to me, like if you talk to a children :-) understandable sentenses,
regards

Interface for Selecting Multiple Categories

Post by km19144 »

Still evaluating the software but I'm in agreement with khn...

Within Windows Mobile 2003, the filter drop-down box displays the 1st 5-10 categories and then has a "More..." option that displays a popup screen of all categories. I can then select/de-select multiple categories via checkboxes next to each category.

This implementation is very smooth vs. the current EPIM interface. For example, If I need to display items from 10 categories, I have to select "View...Show Categories...<Category 1>" then repeat 9 times.

My only other "gripe" is that the categories I assigned to Contacts in Outlook did not automatically turn into "Group" assignments within EPIM. It'll take some time to create new groups but I consider that a small inconvenience....

Category selection

Post by DrZhivago »

I purchased EPPro because I see the the care put into the GUI, but I implore the developers to address this one glaring problem. The current method of category selection is way too clunky for the people who really need to filter. The only good way I see is to offer a list of checkable categories like KM suggests. One of your competitors does this very successfully (I tried but was unable to attach an image) as an expandable item at the bottom of their actions pane. If that is not possible, maybe you could offer a little floating window of the same thing for those of us who have to use categories extensively. O please Mr. Max, can you do it ?
